The fight should have been stopped in round 3, and it was. Only the ref overruled his own decision. Inept, corrupt and a bloody joke.

I don't want to slag off team clev, but there is no way he should have been allowed go into the fourth round. Clev was out of it, slumped almost like Orvil McKenzie (after Maccrinelli), and Clev was allowed to continue.

Just glad Clev is up and looks okay. Not seen a fighter that out of it between rounds being allowed to continue since Watson.

Body shots did it.

No way I'd have sent my son back out there, no way.

I'm just happy he wasn't poleaxed and was intact / safe when it ended.

Aye, very surprising that it wasn't stopped in between rounds.

Mr Blowe was the man this time. Can't argue that Kovolev is one seriously heavy handed mofo. His next few fights will be very interesting.

Rematch would be pointless Buncey.

Kovalev Vs Stevenson

What are the chances of this happening. Or will B Hop get to both of them quickly and school them?

Interesting division suddenly.

Why am I a prick - I am laughing at Terry O'Connor and his 'refereeing' abilities. Not at Cleverly
losing the fight - so just pipe down little boy. :TU:
Fair enough, thought you were laughing at Cleverly getting sparked.
Course not, there is no shame losing to Kovalev. It was hilarious O'Connor stopping the fight and
then the bell went and then you could see his round orange face go 'oh good, I can save him' there is not even a pretence anymore that any of this is on the level.

HBO, pushing the Russians

after years of showcasing stars, HBO are developing gritty guys from former soviet union with severe offensive ability.

golovkin, kovalev - proving the destruction of campillo was no fluke - and provodnikov, whose fight with Alvarado should deliver.

I am glad to see these guys do well.

props to kovalev. I thought he was overlooking cleverly, and his trainer john david Jackson too, who was very dismissive of the Welshman.

kovalev v fonfara next? fonfara, of the come from behind KO of campillo...

Were you joking when you said that Clev looked good in the first two?
No I wasn't; Nathan looked to be dealing with things in the first 2 rounds, moving, slipping throwing punches and moving Kovalev back. He came apart suddenly, he got caught hard and never really recovered, though he tried. He didn't throw a punch in the 4th round and was lucky to get through 3.

C'mon mate, O'Connor dragged Clev to his corner, looked around waving his hands around like an idiot and then ran to the Soviet corner and told them the fight was still on!!

Kudos 100% to Kovalev, what a puncher he is and he made a big statement, so big that the ref became the cornerman for the opponent!!!

Well we don't know much about Kovalev's chin yet. I suspect its good. Kovalev looks more rounded than Stevenson.

Braehmer vs Kovalev will be quite a nice fight. Braehmer is a solid fighter, very good chin. He might take it a few rounds.
