I just didn't want to blow the dust off of old magazines. Turns out, in was in a new-er (since 2000) magazine I had (I searched online first to no avail). Duva is in the background in the photo (so it can't be ancient, well, not super-ancient, anyway) and he looks seriously freaked out. He's giving lots of attention to whatever Hopson is doing, and he looks frightened by it.
The Ring, Volume 2, 2004, 132 page special double edition. p. 23. "Nostalgia Corner" in the Camera Clicks section.
It's funny, however, that this levitation act wouldn't work for him when an opponent put him on the canvas, and Ring half-makes a crack of a somewhat similar nature in the footer caption.

Dude, I don't want to spoil your party, but the caption in that picture is a joke. The guy wasn't doing a magical levitation act -- he's just in the middle of a back flip when the photographer catches him. The caption is just having some fun with the photo.
Check out other Nostalgia Corner captions; they are usually tongue-in-cheek. (Example - two month's ago Ring magazine has a picture of a very young Duran eating an ice cream sundae - the caption claims this is the exact moment where it all started to go downhill in the ever-ballooning weight department for Duran.)
But then again, maybe that guy Hopson really could levitate himself.

..joe louis hit tony galento so hard that both of tony's feet actually lifted off the canvas. one writer (i think it was bugs baer) said (paraphrased) "louis hit galento so hard the referee could have counted him out while he was in still in mid-air"
p.s. for those who think the heavyweights of that period couldn't handle the bigger guys of today...galento was only about 5'7"...but he weighed around 250 pounds.... and a pound then was just the samw weight as a pound today.
which just reminded me..there's a good still picture of louis hitting tamil maurielo...and both of tami's feet are up off the canvas.

louis left hook LIFTED galento off the air in the 2nd round. FIRST TIME GALENTO WAS EVER KNOCKED DOWN SO IT SHOWED U NOT ONLY WAS HE A BIG MAN, BUT A BIG MAN WITH A VERY GOOD CHIN! in the 4th, louis landed a parlyzing right hand and 235lb galento went stumbling across he ring all bloodied up.

5'9 233LB Tony galento- had never been off his feet before louis fight
6'3 210lb max baer- had NEVER been knocked down before, possessed great chin.
6'4 255lb abe simon- VERY BIG for todays standars
6'7 250lb buddy baer- HUGE for todays standards, louis knocked him out COLD at the bell 6th round first fight, and demolished him in one round in rematch
6'6 260lb primo carner- he would make any heavy look like a dwarf today in terms of muscle size. u ever see his tale of the tape measurements?? hes OFF THE CHARTS!
