Is Clev's loss ominous for Boomer?

Cleverley thought he had the style to defeat kolavev! Clev was Taylor made for him!
I'd like to hear Tony's take on the area's he beats Stevenson.
I guarantee that team Stevenson are looking well past tony! The lads just pancaked Dawson & feels on top of the world

Could it not be that everyone is overly hating on Cleverly on one fight and that he is still world a class operator who just had a bad night with a superior fighter...
Just cause you can't beat one world class fighter doesn't mean you're not world class yourself.
Bellew loses a decision to Clev and Clev gets wiped out by Kovalev therefore quid pro quo Bellew isn't as good as you first thought? Nonsensical.
If history has shown anything its that styles make fights and fighters can come back from the most one sided defeat and still be world class.

I see your point, but I think the manner in which Cleverley was dismantled is what people are reacting to.Clint Magnum wrote:Could it not be that everyone is overly hating on Cleverly on one fight and that he is still world a class operator who just had a bad night with a superior fighter...

He was not beaten by a lucky punch, he was totally dominated and it looked like there were several levels between the two fighters. Cleverley is a good fighter, his wins over Boomer and Murat have shown this, but he is obviously not close to the best in the division.

I agree he's not as good as he thought, but its hardly the death knell.forcefraser wrote:I see your point, but I think the manner in which Cleverley was dismantled is what people are reacting to.Clint Magnum wrote:Could it not be that everyone is overly hating on Cleverly on one fight and that he is still world a class operator who just had a bad night with a superior fighter...

If he was beaten up by a limited fighter I would agree with people but he was outclassed by what looks like a much avoided and highly dangerous world class operator. No shame in that.
Re: Is Clev's loss ominous for Boomer?
agreed. styles make fights. its also quite possible that bellew is improving. cleverly simply took easy fights and didnt have the opportunity to test himself or improve. it seems clear now that kov is for real in the power stakes, but that doesnt mean that a well schooled boxer cant find a way to deal with it. same could be said for stevenson, but im sure that bellew , knowing hes up against a dangerous puncher, will try to negate that power by using his own advantages, maintaining the correct range, trying to keep him off balance, and above all...not handing him his chin on a plate!Clint Magnum wrote:Could it not be that everyone is overly hating on Cleverly on one fight and that he is still world a class operator who just had a bad night with a superior fighter...

But that`s the point though isn`t it. If Kovalev is World Class and he beat Cleverly with such ease, hoe can Cleverley be in the same class? Cleverley is European/WBO class by the looks of things.Clint Magnum wrote:I agree he's not as good as he thought, but its hardly the death knell.forcefraser wrote:I see your point, but I think the manner in which Cleverley was dismantled is what people are reacting to.Clint Magnum wrote:Could it not be that everyone is overly hating on Cleverly on one fight and that he is still world a class operator who just had a bad night with a superior fighter...

How many truly world class fighters do we have in Britain? Not many. So far, those that have proved it would be Froch, Martin Murray, Barker, Burns, Haye and maybe Amir Khan.
