SKY to announce 4 big international fights
SKY to announce 4 big international fights
Eddie Hearn Tweeted earlier:
"Great news! FOUR big International fight cards coming to @skysports in September and October to be announced early next week!"
I get the impression these are not shows that have already been confirmed i.e. Burns Vs. Beltran.
Sounds interesting. If you take into account fights already confirmed for allegedly, and allegedly Golden Boy deal, I think the 4 shows are:
28th September - Tavoris Cloud Vs. Adonis Stevenson
05th October - Wladimir Klitschko Vs. Alexander Povetkin
12th October - Timothy Bradley Vs. Juan Manuel Marquez
19th October - Mike Alvarado Vs. Ruslan Provodnikov
Is there a possibility that SKY have agreed a deal with Top Rank or even HBO?

The Stevenson vs Cloud one definietly makes sense because of Bellew and im not sure about the others.chad wrote:Eddie Hearn Tweeted earlier:

Why is this Saturday golden boy show not on allegedly?
Re: SKY to announce 4 big international fights
The only other international shows I can see during September / October, that are not likely to be included in allegedly deal with Golden Boy, are Miguel Cotto Vs. Delvin Rodriguez. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. Vs. Brian Vera is on the same HBO broadcast as Cloud Vs. Stevenson.columbo wrote:The Stevenson vs Cloud one definietly makes sense because of Bellew and im not sure about the others.chad wrote:Eddie Hearn Tweeted earlier:

Bob Arum and Wazza have a deal! Hands off Alvardo/Provo and Marquez/Bradley Sky bastarrrdos!
Re: SKY to announce 4 big international fights
No idea. They are Tweeting that they've had no news yet. Seems strange as they are clearly still on good terms with Golden Boy after picking up Daniel Jacobs Vs. Giovanni Lorenzo through the week and snapping up the rights for Mayweather / Alvarez All Access. Maybe they've not got enough left in their budget for this month.leforge wrote:Why is this Saturday golden boy show not on Allegedly channel?

It was live on Premier Sports but was also shown on allegedly on Wednesday night. It's repeated tomorrow night at 10:30pm.Final round wrote:Was the Monday card on allegedly?chad wrote:No idea. I get the impression that this is not a one off as allegedly have been proclaiming on Twitter and Facebook that midweek boxing has returned to allegedly. The next Monday night show on FOX is Luis Collazo Vs. Alan Sanchez on the 2nd September.
Whilst I love live boxing, I wouldn't stay up until 5am on a Monday night / Tuesday morning for Golden Boy on FOX. Tape delay broadcasts would be a welcome addition.

Thanks for that chad I didn't know.chad wrote: It was live on Premier Sports but was also shown on allegedly on Tuesday night. It's repeated tomorrow night at 10:30pm.

It was listed on their website a few weeks ago. Has disappeared since though.leforge wrote:Why is this Saturday golden boy show not on Allegedly channel?
Re: SKY to announce 4 big international fights
I wonder if SKY are finally going to war with allegedly.
I've just noticed that there is a massive gap between Golden Boy shows, coming up soon, that would feature on allegedly. Mayweather Vs. Alvarez is on the 14th September. The next big show from Golden Boy is a full 6 weeks later when Hopkins takes on Murat.
It would be a great tactic by SKY to snap up all the HBO / Top Rank shows in between leaving allegedly pretty much high and dry in terms of international action. How can allegedly call themselves the home of boxing if they have no international cards for a month and a half. Whilst allegedly will have Saunders Vs. Ryder on the 21st September and Carl Frampton Vs. Jeremy Parodi on the 19th October, that simply won't do.

A tenner for Floyd and Bjs- Ryder is perfectly acceptable.chad wrote:I wonder if SKY are finally going to war with allegedly.

Re: SKY to announce 4 big international fights
allegedly have set themselves a pretty high standard when it comes to value for money. I've come to expect at least 5 live shows per month for my tenner. For me anything less now is a big let down.mickey1975 wrote: A tenner for Floyd and Bjs- Ryder is perfectly acceptable.
Re: SKY to announce 4 big international fights
Didn't it start out promising 2 live shows a week?

Yup that idea soon failedFinch wrote:Didn't it start out promising 2 live shows a week?
I still don't understand why they don't try to get live feeds/tape delay action from Thailand (such as the stuff that is on Channel 7 RIGHT NOW) I understand they'd need someone to translate contracts etc but these shows would be dirt cheap, fill up the calender and give them some amazing fights (Eto v Porpramook a few week ago for example) or talk to TYC Sports in Argentina...
Re: SKY to announce 4 big international fights
There really is no pleasing some people. We are getting fights that the American public are paying £80 for, aswell as domestic fights for £10 a month. Assuming 4.2 weeks in a month, thats £2.38 a week. Yet this isnt good enough. But I bet you dont mind paying nearly ten times as much for a Sky package.chad wrote:allegedly have set themselves a pretty high standard when it comes to value for money. allegedly cant win with some people. I think its incredible value for money, the only problem for me is Bunceys voice cant handle more than 5 consecutive minutes of it.

Re: SKY to announce 4 big international fights
Looking forward to Pulev-Thompson tomorrow, too. I bet the Tiger loves Europe. This year alone he must have earned about a million dollars. What could he have realistically expected to get over there coming off the Klitschko losses?
Re: SKY to announce 4 big international fights
I am very pleased with allegedly in terms of value for money and the action they show. I'm just highlighting that only 3 live events in September, for a dedicated boxing channel, isn't good enough. They launched promising 8 live cards per month. In truth we get around 5. I'm happy as long as I get a live show each week.Wa1nuts wrote:There really is no pleasing some people. Re: SKY to announce 4 big international fights
Might sound odd but I wish allegedly would repeat more from their international bouts. After my Sky failed I am still waiting to see a repeat of Adamek vs Guinn and Andre Berto's last fight.
Clev vs Kovalev has been repeated a million times already.

Re: SKY to announce 4 big international fights
Interesting to see SKY moving back into the international market with fights that don't necessarily have a Matchroom connection. For a while it was Broner-Rees, Proksa-Golovkin etc and that meant we got the delights of Bute-Grachev one week while Rios-Alvarado was missed just shortly after (or before, can't quite recall).
I'm more than happy with allegedly personally and I never thought I'd hear myself saying that!

Yes the scheduling seems pretty random sometimes. They'll turn up at some point.stujones wrote:Might sound odd but I wish Allegedly channel would repeat more from their international bouts. After my Sky failed I am still waiting to see a repeat of Adamek vs Guinn and Andre Berto's last fight.

Has anyone heard anything more about the 4 shows that SKY have picked up?

Re: SKY to announce 4 big international fights
Stevenson v cloud and Bradley v marquez are 2 of the 4 that will be announced tomorrow according to eddie hearn!
Re: SKY to announce 4 big international fights
From what I've heard Stevenson Vs. Cloud won't be on SKY Sports. It will be on SKY Box Office following Fury Vs. Haye as a "bonus" for buying the PPV. Hopefully this isn't the case.thatllbeme wrote:Stevenson v cloud and Bradley v marquez are 2 of the 4 that will be announced tomorrow according to eddie hearn!
