Alexander Povetkin v. Alexander Zolkin.
Alexander Povetkin v. Alexander Zolkin.
Who takes this?
Zolkin was a fringe contender in the 90s (yeah, I know he got a title shot). This is how little I think of Povetkin that I'm putting this up as a serious match-up.

An inspired Zolkin could have caused some issues, although he lacked anything approaching a decent punch. Alexander was unlucky to have met a legend in Henry Akinwande, who killed off his ambition.

Even Alexander Dimitrenko would have beaten Zolkin.. Not that Zolkin was terrible, he reminded me a lot of Yuri Vaulin -- a Latvian who beat up Tommy Morrison for 4 rounds before catching a liver shot.. He had only 11 fights when they matched him with Morrison.. Vaulin wasn't phenomenal, so I thought he was badly overmatched for his expr.. Tommy Gallagher said his problem wasn't experience, but he was 210 and not strong enough for Heavyweights.. With proper strength training Vaulin could have built up to 230 because he was tall with a Heavyweight's frame -- but Instead of getting him a strength trainer Gallagher boiled him down 20 pounds to cruiserweight.. Cruiser was 190 in those days and that finished him off quickly.Rover wrote:Who takes this?
