I got thinking about Alan Rudkin recently when I began reading Gerry Marsden's autobiography (rock music's another of my passions) and Gerry mentioned that Alan Rudkin was one of his best mates when they were boys and that they've been life long friends. I've only seen photos of Rudkin's fights and read reports, but have never seen him in action. So, I was wondering if anyone has seen him and what there opinions of him are. If he were fighting today I'm sure he would easily have won a world title, afterall he did ko Johnny Caldwell, and decision Walter McGowan, and went the distance with Fighting Harada and Lionel Rose.
Incidently, Gerry Marsden who's a life long fight fanatic, and said he still hits the bag everyday (book was written in 93) wanted to be a boxer, until Rudkin gave him a real drubbing at the Florence Institute and convinced him that his future was in the world of pop music and not the ring.
