:oo To be fair to David,he has to take drastic action as he,s one defeat away from pretty much no-mans land

I think Franny Smith is a pretty good trainer and him and Price did seem to have a good bond but the way he lost control of the corner in the rematch with Thompson was unnacceptable and Davids alarming rate of fatigue has to be adressed pronto

I reckon Joe Gallagher would be good for him, superb conditioning, develops good fight tactics and the high guard might well suit him

I dont think Lennox helped though to be fair! Franny was trying to give instructions and Lennox was shouting over the top of him. Also I dont think it was smart to tell him to get up off the stool when he was clearly exhausted! Saying that though I understand Price needs to take action.

Yeah as much as a legend Lennox Lewis is,Franny should have told him to sshhh, absolute bedlam which is the No1 rule for any trainer surely,no more than 1 voice in the corner, especially when a fighters hurt, cardinal sin IMO

As much as i like him Ive noticed Dean Powells bad for that, shouting over the trainer, its a no no

If there's any justice Lennox Lewis and Frank Maloney will follow him out the door. I heard an interview with Price last week (the Bunce show maybe) where he was being openly critical of those bums that padded out his record in the early days. I thought then the writing was on the wall for somebody. Price said something to the effect of, all he got from those fights was a payday, meaning, presumably, the education part was missing.

Just listened to him on bunces boxing hour. He said "he dont want a new trainer to treat him like a novice" and that he is a good fighter and he wants the new trainer to develop what he's already got. To me that is the wrong attitude he should want to go to a new trainer and build from scratch, what's the point on getting a new trainer to develop what you already got when that's been evident that its not good enough. Just think its a strange outlook on it on his behalf

I wouldnt want to see that, purely for the reason that it wouldnt any chance of a Price vs Fury fight in the future.

You're absolutely right, he does. I always notice that. It isn't impressive and must be so annoying for the fighter's trainer.

Much though I respect Lennox as a fighter, he has become a bit of a clown since retirement.

He always seemed one who wanted his fighting to do the talking, but since he's not fighting any more he just seems to pop up all over the place to remind people of who he is. It wouldn't be so bad if he talked sense, but he seems to be one of those people who'll say any old guff just to get on telly. Remember when the BBC hired him to hype up Audley?

Such a good fighter, but he can talk some proper shite about the sport.

Dean only does it when the corner aren't very good. He doesn't do it with Jimmy Tibbs but wouldn't think twice with Vince Cleverley. Dean has a right to have his input too. He's been in the corners of big fights for over twenty years.

David needs to look for a trainer that has experience with Heavyweights, which Gallagher doesn't. It's almost a different skill training a heavyweight compared to other boxers.

You'd have to say with the passing of Manny, there aren't many top heavyweight trainers out there.

Perhaps Booth could help him as they have worked together before but maybe he should try working with Jonathan Banks?

I think he told Povetkin that he wouldn't beat a Klit so tried to stop him from fighting. At least he was honest.

Good post, and I agree (I think !).

Whatever Price does in the future he will do well at domestic level but the moment he steps up he will get knocked out - I know it, but more imprtantly he knows it too (and no matter whatever or whoever changes he makes, this will not change).
