I agree if Mason landed it would be all over but Gary was really slow. If Del was fit enough and kept out of the way he could win, it's not as clear cut as Gary steamrollering him.

I think it would be a matter of who turned up in better shape. Skill-wise they're probably equally matched. Chisora strikes me as the slightly more ambitious and hungry fighter. Chisora by SD.

Mason would stop him.
Chisora does not have the power to deter him.

Bad KO loss for Chisora.

I saw Gary at the Notting Hill Carnival about 15 years ago; he was the biggest man I have ever seen and just looked so powerful - not body builder muscle but he looked like the Hulk, very nice man to speak to as well from all accounts; a real shame he passed so young.

Gary Mason had the biggest head I have ever seen in my life, Met him a few times in passing, and it was like talking to an Easter Island head in a blazer - no wonder he took a shot so well.

Mason would have marmalised Chisora, Chisora has a good chin, a very good chin, but Mason took massive shots off of the likes of Lewis, and had a murderous punch, and slow as he was, he could box, far better than Chisora who is a big milling machine.

Mason was unfortunate that Lewis was around in his era really, he was never going to be good enough to dominate the division, but could have won a world title with the right run of fights I think.

Mason v Bruno - now what a shame that one never happened - pick em fight. Reckon you'd favour Frank because of his poleaxe of a jab, but Mason was durable, and if he connected, he'd have had a bloody good chance of smashing Bruno into submission.

i'll have to remember the easter island head bit , that made me laugh ... mason vs bruno would of been a great fight and mason would of had a great shot of outlasting frank and getting the late stoppage win,

Mason was very solid. But remember, people are always kinder / more generous when someone has retired or died.

I think it would've been an even fight

One of the best ex-pro boxing analysts ever. Personable, witty, articulate, intelligent, and very very funny. I always wanted Mason to make a TV comeback and was devastated when he died.

At the time heavyweights over 16 1/2 stone were considered fat, mason got quite a lot of stick in the press so him and George Francis went off to set up training a health farm only for him to way a career heaviest in his next fight. ! Durable guy, slow though , think Bruno would of beat him purely cos Gary lacked the same fitness and determination as frank
