Amateur hall of fame

Post by mike222 »

Ibhof do a great job for professionals but why not a hall of fame for Amateurs-my first 20 inductees,excluding current fighters would be---------Teofilio Stevenson,Felix Savon,Ariel Hernandez,Laszlo Papp,Nino Benvenuti,Juan Hernandez,Hector Vinent,Roberto Balado,Mario Kindelan,Angel Herrera,Adolfo Horta,Maikro Romero,Serafim Todorov,Daniel Petrov,Istvan Kovacs,Oleg Saitov,Ivailo Hristov,Francisc Vastag,Dick Mctaggart, Henry Mallin.What no Americans--well the great ones always turn Pro very earlywhich makes it difficult for the likes of Carbajal,Bernard Taylor,Meldrick Taylor,De La Hoya,Whitaker,Breland,Clay,Frazier,Foreman,Jones,Curry,Bumphus,Davis and theSpinks brothers.Do you include them or not

Would agree with your list, all were great Amateurs.

One thing, in my mind any Amateur that goes pro would probaly not go into the list. They would have to be very special to do that, so like you say will leave most US fighters out.

Good list anyway :TU:

It would be great with a am hall of fame. Great list. How about Alexander Lebziak. I think to qualify you must win more than just one major tournament (for Americans Olympics, Worlds, World Cup or Pan Ams) Mark Breland, Howard Davis, Sugar Ray Leonard and Tyrell Biggs, Eric Griffin and maybe De La Hoya (won Goodwill Games) or Roy Jones (won Val Barker Trophy) should qualify.
