Vitali injured

Post by stujones »

But the Rahman fight is still on, sounds like it could hamper his chances though - he has twisted his knee and will apparently have therapy and wear a knee brace up untill the fight.

Story over at fightnews.

Hmmm. Cheers for the heads up. I'll be annoyed if Rahman beats him because of this injury though.

Vitali seems to be Mr. Glass lately. Complaining about damaged hands after the Williams fight, pulls out of the initial date with Rahman with back problems and now this, wonder how many fights Vitali has left in him with his age and injury proneness.

Don't forget if Vitali pulls out he is stripped, so perhaps in other circumstances he would pull up now.

Fair play to him for sticking to fight.

he knock rahman out even with the knee brace. I saw rahman v barrett. Barrett shock rahman.Rahman is poor fighter
If Toney was younger i think he would dominate this division even though he overweight. His boxing skills are far better than any heavyweight.
This is the worst bunch of heavyweights in my whole 29 yrs of life.
Maskaev v sam winner in a few weeks wins a wbc elimantor!! Valuev will win a tiltle in dec he knocked out ruiz. Lennox come out of retirement!! If he did he knock all these guys out. IMO its one of the worst division in boxing at the present time.

Err... that'll be the same Vitali that stepped into the ring with Lennox Lewis with little notice then will it?

Bit harh. Certainly strip Klitschko of the belt, but why just award it to Rahman? Surely Rahman could fight somebody for the vacant belt?

 I was looking foreward to this fight as well. Vitali appears to pull out of fights almost as much as Tyson used to,

Having said that I still pick Vitali to beat Rahman quite easily. I have always felt Rahman is a little overated, by some.

Rahman has the interim belt, he has won the final eliminator (and interim title) rules are if Vitali cannot make the fight by a certain date Rahman get award the title.

Same happend with Robbie Reegan, same happend with John Ruiz (after Roy Jones beat him).

The date of the WBC awarding the title proper to Rahman (should Vitali not face him for WHATEVER reason) has been announced in the past. Don King will be praying that they stick to it.

Yep! And the exact same Vitali who quit against light hitting Chris Byrd in the final rounds, and the exact same Vitali that has avoided the top heavyweights like I said, as if they were ebola crossed with the plague!

Vitali is a smart man, he isnt gonna risk his career and his title fighting through serious injury and no armchair fan should expect him too....

Look what happened to Diego Corrales when he thought with his heart not with his head.... poor guy got knocked out.....

Vitali hasnt ducked any top heavyweights, fact is there isnt any good heavyweights to duck......

He fought the best in Lennox Lewis at short notice... he fought Sanders when he had just beaten Wlad who was top boy at the time....

Sure it is frustrating, but talk of coward and quitter are stupidity......

No, he is a puss and he isn't going to fight through a common, every day cold! His supposed injury is only a light sprain, so in reality...it's not an injury...as usual...it's an excuse!

And yes he has ducked, he has ducked the shit out of Hasim Rahman and he has ducked a rematch with Chris Byrd and I'm sure there are more and by mentioning his win over a fat, out of shape golfer won't change that!

Have to say, that after all the talk of Lewis being a coward for not fighting him, Vitali has hardly acquitted himself well.

Lets face it, plenty of fighters enter the ring with minor injuries, it's very commonplace, the same goes for most top flight athletes. How often do runners, weightlifters, rugby and football players enter the fray less than 100%.

If the injury is slight, then I think it a little bit much of Vitali to postpone again, and it's only right and proper he is stripped. Part of being a champion is defending your title against the #1 contender. I know there's a disputable case for Rahman being #1 in the first place, but Vitali hasn't faced the best of the division by any stretch. Torpedoing Wlad doesn't mean a shit of a lot, and Sanders, Johnson and Williams are hardly murderers row are they?
