Froch in dancing shocker

Post by forcefraser »

Froch and his missus are on a dancing program called stepping out.

This must be about raising the profile of his missus?

Whatever it is he needs to be careful that he does not lose focus on the job in hand, namely a slightly balding ginger southerner with terrible tattoos.

I thought that. Surprised he got involved tbh, out of character. I have a feeling he's overlooking George a little bit. When a successful English boxer starts this sort of thing u know the good times are almost over. When the celebs accompany them on the ring walk, when the family get involved in the business side and when they start experimenting with new haircuts....the sure sign that a defeats just around the corner.

GOmez assured us all, when Carl was on Primetime that if Carl could be successful without being famous he would be a happy man.

Don't ask me why he's doing it !

Knowing Carl it wouldn't be a calculated move. I bet he was having a good day, the offer came in and he laughed and thought 'sod it'

But today on the eve on the first show, he's probably more like 'what have I got myself into' !

Mel B is a proper bitch, I bet she steams into the contestants.

Fame, and all the 'I'm a Warrior' talk, has gone to his head? Or Rachel realises no one cares or knows who she is?

I picked Groves to win and this will certainly help him.

I think your bang on the money.

Groves will spark this guy nobody has heard of inside the opening round.

He's too fast, too experienced, has more proven power at a higher level and a granite chin.

No, but one fighter desperate and hungry for the win against one not taking him seriously = Groves win!

Just because people have heard of Foch and he has been at the top level does not a Froch victory make.

Froch is going the Haye/Fame route - celeb nonsense.

I have a feeling he'll be awful. If he dancing is anything like his footwork in boxing I cant see him being particularily good.

I always find it weird that we criticise sportsmen for doing things like this whereas in the old days they were celebrated for it. If you reach the top level of your sport which is watched by millions then you are going to become recognised and rather than fight it, embrace it, make it work for you ie. Hatton, Bruno etc. I know I would, imagine all the clunge you'd get, live the life while you can, you'll never get the chance again.

Anyone who thinks this will have any impact on the inevitability of Froch taking Groves to the deep end has been watching too much Rocky 3.

Not that you can watch too much Rocky 3.

True, what better way to prepare for a big fight than dance around lifting human beings.

Is this show 'live'? If it is, can;t Froch injure himself? Or is he invincible?

I too was a bit worried reading this that Froch isn't taking Groves seriously as I have a lot riding on that fight! But Froch should still have 8 weeks for training camp before the fight, no?

Although thinking about it perhaps this is all part of McCracken's masterplan for improving Carl's footwork. Either that or Carl is planning on body popping a few times in the ring with Groves, i can dig it.

Floyd Mayweather entered Dancing with the Stars in September 2007 ahead of his December 2007 fight with Ricky Hatton. If Money took the Hitman lightly, he certainly didn't show it in the ring on the night.

This will have zero impact on his fight preparation and will help add a few 000's to the PPV numbers.

1) Will add to the PPV
2) Froch is no Mayweather.

RJJ could play basketball, but he was on another level. Groves has a better chance against Froch than Ricky ever did against Mayweather.

Yeah you cant really compare Mayweather with Froch! Froch is a great fighter but Mayweather is a special talent who can do things the majority of other boxers cant.

I'm not trying to compare Froch with Mayweather from a technical point of view, but the point is that Floyds appearance on a Dancing show 3 months before his fight with Hatton had no impact on his performance or preparation. On the night he fought Hatton, Floyd was in arguably the best shape of his career. Carl is always fighting fit and, therefore, a couple of hours of dancing with his wife is not going to make a jot of difference to his fight with Groves.
