Frankie Burns or Frankie Brown
Frankie Burns or Frankie Brown
In the record of bantamweight champion Kid Williams (1910-1929) we have an entry for 4 September 1916 (No-Decision 10 rounds) versus Frankie Burns. However I have seen a report which says his opponent was Frankie Brown who also campaigned around that time. Can anybody clarify.
Baltimore, September 4, 1916.--Bleary eyed and dazed, with his body pelted to a crimson hue, Frankie Brown staggered from the Arena this afternoon at Oriole Park, badly beaten. Whatever solace there may be for the sturdy New Yorker came with going the limit of ten rounds the world's bantamweight champion, Kid Williams.
Three times Brown wilted under the champion's awful body assault in the ninth round and crumpled up on the canvas. On each occasion he succeeded on regaining his feet before Referee Ullman could toll off the fatal ten seconds. He managed to stay the full ten rounds by holding in the last session. New York Times

One should probably include a comment to that bout that it is sometimes incorrectly attributed to Burns:
