The New York Rangers probably have more fans than the total population of England, so for them here is how the team was named.
Tex Rickard, with help from Nat Fleischer and others in site selection and financing, built a new Madison Square Garden at 49th St. and 8th Ave., which became known as "the house that Tex built." The New York hockey team was named after Rickard as a wordplay on the "Texas Rangers."
