Tommy Morrison RIP

Post by rob h »

RIP Tommy. A sad end to a great fighter. Last 17 years must have been hell for him.

Grim news indeed. A long downward spiral for Tommy since 1996. All the forces seemed to be combining to finish him off this year.

A morbid note, but perhaps his post mortem will clear up a lot of the stories surrounding his health- not just the HIV, but all the rest.

Regardless of his unsavoury character outside the ring, what a ballsy, exciting fighter inside it. I can't think of a single world class all-out action heavyweight fighting today.

Tragic. I recommend this article on ESPN written just prior to his death. Difficult to know where to start after reading this...

Was watching old interviews of Tommy just now. That bloke had the world in his hand at one time. Such a shame. You don't really hear much about HIV or AIDS in this country any more; just goes to show that it's still around.

RIP Tommy :(

Great article. Very thorough, and insights from close family members you never hear from normally. I wonder what his three sons are like?

I worry for Morrison's widow. There must be a high chance she is now infected with a disease she believes doesn't exist.

It's impossible not to have mixed feelings for Morrison. Sadly he was in some ways mad, and in deep denial. Probably better he is gone as he simply could not cope with society and was dangerous with his views. But a great great fighter full of heart. What a scary way his life went.

Yep, they've been having unprotected sex ever since it was found out, so only one conclusion unfortunately
