Ref for Saturday night...
For the problem avoider v Beltran?
Does anyone know who is? It obviously will have a major impact on the premature stoppage I fully expect to see!

To be fair on Matchroom cards if the main event is a World title fight then it is nearly always a neutral referee.
Phil Edwards reffing Froch v Mack is the only one I can think of.

Edwards is an early stoppage merchant.

Since Pajkic v Fury, McKenzie v Bellew 1, Brook v Jones 2 and Malik Scott. There are certainly refs who stop fights quicker than edwards, but he has stopped a few early enough.

Re: Ref for Saturday night...
I stand corrected, he didn`t ref the Brook v Jones rematch.
Still the Fury stoppage was iffy at best. I`d just like to see a non British ref for a world title fight involving a British fighter. Nothing against Edwards, he is one of the better refs that we have. It seems all british refs are trigger happy with the stoppages.
I don`t know how anyone can explain in the inconsistency in IJL letting Briggs take a total hammering from Vitali, yet stop Enzo after a couple of cuffing punches landed.
If I was that erratic are work, I`d be sacked.

Re: Ref for Saturday night...
The Briggs fight is why IJL steps in early, for me he worries too much about making a mistake like that again. I'd rather refs stepped in early than late and I would say that Edwards got Enzo-Mckenzie 2 spot on with the stoppage, rescued McKenzie at the perfect time, badly hurt and unable to defend himself.forcefraser wrote:I stand corrected, he didn`t ref the Brook v Jones rematch.

Re: Ref for Saturday night...
It doesn't surprise me when O'Connor stops a fight early, what does surprise me is that he moves quickly enough to stop fights early, he's a big lad. Whatever happens, if he steps between the fighters, that's that, there's no going round him or shoving him out of the way.columbo wrote:Aslong as it's not Terry or Ian-John lewis we're alright haha.Final round wrote:Yeah I agree but Phil is up there.spudder56 wrote:

Re: Ref for Saturday night...
Horrible performance from Edwards. Let Burns hold endlessly and didn't even warn him, at least until maybe the final round or so.
Bad card from the mentioned Richie Davis too.

Re: Ref for Saturday night...
There were a lot of close rounds, 114-114 I'm ok with, I gave Burns 1,2,6,7,11 and 12 with the 5th level. The 2nd and 6th could have gone either way and the 5th could have gone to Beltran, any card from 115-113/112 Beltran to 114-114 is fine in my eyes. Don't know what Ortiz was watching to score it 115-112, that was utterly ridiculous.crusader wrote:Horrible performance from Edwards. Re: Ref for Saturday night...
I thought the second and fifth were clear rounds for Beltran, and I think to have Ricky winning more rounds than Beltran one must be generous to him when scoring.
Re: Ref for Saturday night...
Another shit performance from a british ref.
Re: Ref for Saturday night...
He was a bit easy-going on the old "holding" I thought.
Re: Ref for Saturday night...
He was way too easy going on the holding. I'm not sure if he even gave Burns a warning.
