Oscar probably gets to him with a good left hook and stops him at some point late.

I like Tszyu, and I get that he was quite a fighter, with great power and timing, but some of these match ups are going to make him look bad, because of styles.

And Oscar over time seems to have become a little bit underrated, he was very much a destroyer at the lower weights. I don't see anything Tszyu really did better, or even as well as him, at that weight.

To verry different styles, over twelve it's an absolute war, both can box, both different styles. I doubt Kostya stoppes Oscar, I feal Oscar takes this in a hard earned decision.

Kostya was an above average champion, but bar the Judah early finish De La Hoya would achieve better results against all his opponents. He was far to quick and accurate at light welter for the Russian.

Actually the more I think about it, a late stoppage KO 10 or KO 11 in Oscar's favor wouldn't surprise me at all either.

Same, but I think he might box carefully due to Tszyu's power.

That's why my initial pick and gut instinct is Oscar W12.

What is overlooked here is that Kostya himself was a very accomplished amateur boxer, and was a very capable boxer as a pro, maybe Oscar (one of my favourite boxers) wa a more orthodox boxer, and was brilliant at what he did with that, but Kostya was also a great boxer as a pro.

I'm not suggesting Kostya wasn't a great fighter in his own right, I'd pick him in his fair share of mythical matchups as well, I just don't think Oscar is a good style matchup for him. I don't see him beating Oscar.

If they had fought around 2005 or 2006 when the fight was actually being discussed I actually think Kostya would've had a better chance then, than Prime for Prime.

By 2006 he'd already lost to Hatton. The DLH who smashed Mayorga would've beaten that Tszyu comfortably. Tszyu never did anything of note at welter much less jr. middle. He'd have had his best shot at 140.

Yeah I know he'd already lost to Hatton, I'm thinking more specifically about them fighting in 2005 instead of the Hatton bout, but either way I think Oscar poses a much different stylistic matchup than Hatton did...and he wasn't necessarily at his best in 2006 either. Don't get me wrong I still think Oscar would win, I'm just saying, I think the fact that Oscar was getting older and slowing down a tad would give Kostya and his boxing skills a bit more of a chance to even things up.

For the record, I think Kostya even after taking his loss from Hatton, could've also whipped Mayorga's ass in 2006. Probably not as easily as Oscar did, but I think he'd have beat him.

I don't know about that. 14 pounds is a good chunk. He never even did anything notable at welter.

I know he didn't, I'm just basing that on how much more talented Kostya was in comparison to a guy like Mayorga. I think his talent would see him through in a fight against such a crude opponent. Size disadvantage or not.

I agree he was the overall better fighter. So was Forrest. What would've happened if Tszyu'd been hit? We don't know because he never took a shot from someone who hit hard at those weights.
