Charles Allen

Post by worldwide »

Hi,

I suspect that there were TWO Charles Allen (heavyweights) fighting at the same time in the early 80's and our database has them put together.

One came fom Chicago, IL with a record of 3-1 (3 KO) (or 2-2 (2 KO) according to Mid-American Record Book).

Could anyone who has the resources please look up the following fights to see if we can find out who this (other?) Charles Allen is?
1981-02-17 Reiner Hartmann W 6 Charles Allen (Miami Beach, FL)
1982-06-24 Charles Allen KO 1 Donnie Franklin (Mobile, AL)
1982-07-18 Michael Greer KO 1 Charles Allen (Pensacola, FL)

Thanks, :-?

Tack Palle,

That seems to support my suspicion of there being two Charles Allen's.

Did the report have any weights or claimed records listed?
Did it say how many rounds the fights was scheduled for?

If you could look it up please

Actually, it's says; "Reiner Hartman, 212, Germany, won a close decision over CHARLIE ALLAN, 206, Pensacola, six. Reiner suffered a cut over the left eye in the third round, and credit has to be given to Dundee's ability to keep the damage at a minimum. The crowd booed the decision. This would make a good return match". The Ring, April, 1981.
I'm missing one issue of 1982, but I will take a closer look for the other bouts. The reports are well organized (and dated) but a little spred around in the mag, following major title bout reports, etc.
Later!

I went through 11 issues of The Ring 1982 but didn't find anymore bouts with Allen. But my intention is to take up the 80's soon as I'm finished with RRB 1950 and a 60-80 DRAFT bouts check. I'll keep Charles Allen in mind. The Michael Greer fight was in Pensacola, another indication?
