Re: burns got lucky.......DRAW
Ricky Burns is the Scottish Sven Ottke these days. Beltran won that fight.
After the last defence, Burns' promoter said flatly "no chance" when asked about a rematch.
Tonight, Ricky was gifted a decision that keeps him in situ as the WBO world champ. He won't win a world title unification, nor prevail against #1 contender Crawford. I guess we'll see a Crolla defence before xmas to milk the Scottish crowd one more time.

stick a spoiler on it mate.
Re: burns got lucky.......DRAW
i could understand why they wouldnt give a rematch in the last fight, the guy didnt deserve one, Burns broke his heart and quit on his stool when winning - he doesnt deserve to get in a ring again never mind another world title shot.JimJim2009 wrote:Ricky Burns is the Scottish Sven Ottke these days. How many dodgy decisions has Burns received in his favour? It's just the Beltran decision isn't it.JimJim2009 wrote:Ricky Burns is the Scottish Sven Ottke these days. Beltran won that fight.

Yeah, there's some huge overreacting going on right now, on the balance of things, the belt deserved to be heading across the Atlantic, 114-114 was the closest it could have been, there was no way that Ricky won the fight, I've seen a couple of 116-111s and 117-110s about which are way too wide for me, but anything up to 3 rounds in Beltran's favour was more or less bang on. I gave every close round Burns' way and had it 114-114 with another level that could have gone to Beltran, but to suggest Beltran won just 4 rounds is preposterous, he won 3,4,8 with the KD, 9 and 10 clearly for me with Burns winning 1,7,11 and 12. The 2nd and 6th could have gone either way for me and the 5th could have gone the Mexican's way but I gave it level which gives 114-114.Horse wrote:How many dodgy decisions has Burns received in his favour? It's not about how many gift decisions Ricky's had though. It's about the dodgy decisions that go on over here.expe wrote:Yeah, there's some huge overreacting going on right now, on the balance of things, the belt deserved to be heading across the Atlantic, 114-114 was the closest it could have been, there was no way that Ricky won the fight, I've seen a couple of 116-111s and 117-110s about which are way too wide for me, but anything up to 3 rounds in Beltran's favour was more or less bang on. no he's not put a spoiler on it. People do check this site for other fights why make an issue out of something that doesnt need to be.stevedoc wrote:are you bloody joking :?? :??Craigyid14 wrote:it's just courteous though.
Re: burns got lucky.......DRAW
There aren't that many bad ones, tonight aside, 1 judge had Froch-Kessler 118-110, O'Connor helped Cleverly to the corner, Chilemba probably deserved to beat Bellew first time round. There's been some questionable officiating this year, but you'll find that all over the world and to suggest Burns is like Ottke is unfair. Burns has had 1 questionable decision, Ottke had 6 or 7 in 34 fights, 28 when you remove the fights that ended inside the distance and 22 of his fights were for world titles. From 16 world title fights that went to the cards, nearly half were questionable.columbo wrote:It's not about how many gift decisions Ricky's had though. Re: burns got lucky.......DRAW
i had beltran up by a couple and tbh the close rounds could have gone either way...when its that close havin the finish as a draw i cant argue ....burns was lucky you can say but he did manage to win the championship rounds....
Re: burns got lucky.......DRAW
Agree with everything there. To win the championship rounds with a dislocated jaw took some guts.ajwesty13 wrote:i had beltran up by a couple and tbh the close rounds could have gone either way...when its that close havin the finish as a draw i cant argue ....burns was lucky you can say but he did manage to win the championship rounds....

The only issue I have with the scoring is 115-112, I don't get where that comes from.digzee wrote:Agree with everything there. I had it 114-113 for Beltran with the knockdown being the difference between the two, but I would not have had too much issue with a point or two in Beltran's favour as I gave Burns a couple of close rounds that could have gone the other way - the only thing I could have scored the other way was the 3rd.

Re: burns got lucky.......DRAW
And that was the American judge... cant understand how he managed to arrive 115 112 .. im really not sure how Americans judge bouts and what they look for... mind you some of our american boxrec members had beltran 118 110 which is almost as strange..expe wrote:The only issue I have with the scoring is 115-112, I don't get where that comes from.digzee wrote:

Re: burns got lucky.......DRAW
The 115-112 could come from the judge giving Ricky the first 3 rounds as the 3rd was close and that judge may also of took a point off Beltran for hitting on the break!! If I had scores that way that's the scorecard I would have got.. But instead I had Beltran by 1.. Did Beltran deserve to win YES!!! Did he do enough away from home probably not

If he won the fight it should not matter whether it was home, away or on another planet. If you win you win. Simple.daviddee wrote:The 115-112 could come from the judge giving Ricky the first 3 rounds as the 3rd was close and that judge may also of took a point off Beltran for hitting on the break!! Which BoxRec member had it 118-110?ajwesty13 wrote:And that was the American judge... cant understand how he managed to arrive 115 112 .. im really not sure how Americans judge bouts and what they look for... mind you some of our american boxrec members had beltran 118 110 which is almost as strange..expe wrote:The only issue I have with the scoring is 115-112, I don't get where that comes from.digzee wrote:

Yes he did. If that fight doesn't count as 'doing enough to win' whatever that actually means what does?daviddee wrote:The 115-112 could come from the judge giving Ricky the first 3 rounds as the 3rd was close and that judge may also of took a point off Beltran for hitting on the break!! I had Beltran three rounds up plus an extra point for the knockdown, I feel sorry for him. At times he was cuffing Burns around like he was a sparring partner. Burns team are obviously trying to make his jaw the story rather than the real story that he lost the fight clearly. Did he get warned for holding once?
Fair play to him for getting through with the injury but that's all he did, if there's no rematch then I'll lose a lot of respect for him. This guy deserves a rematch, the WBO only enforce a mandatory if it suits the promoter so there is no excuse at all for this not to be Burns next fight.

Gonzalez didn't suit Hearn, but it did suit another promoter, who has considerable links to the WBO.Flump wrote:I had Beltran three rounds up plus an extra point for the knockdown, I feel sorry for him.
