Coyle v Warburton
Draw over four, IMO Warburton won it 3-1 I was amazed they didnt give it every round to Coyle because thats what they do, but a great little scrap that you could put on again anywhere and people would love it.

Ahmad vs Carr
Scrappy fight that didnt need to be, Ahmad had 2-3 inches reach on Carr, didnt use it.
I know he's not overly experienced but look when Skeete fought Johnny Greaves he boxed him to perfection, Carr never really was put in a position where he had to slip his way in past the shots, Ahmad seemed to think he himself should get in close after every 1-2. Ahmad points but I wouldnt watch it again.

I really should take notes, 13 fights you sometimes get one confused with another...

think Jupp beat Levickis on pts but could be wrong, now I recall actually it was an innocent looking body shot.

Ashaye shut-out on Greaves I think, the problem was he kept bumping his feet on the adverts and/or the camera lenses, at one point he kicked the advertising and half-kicked the cameraman, he apologised afterwards but he seemed in a funny mood, I'm sure we'll hear from him.

Higgins beat Sniedze, who somehow has moved from Bulgarian to Latvian over the last year unless I'm much mistaken. Think Higgins injured his (opponents) ear for the stoppage.

Conquest stopped Vicena

Greenwood beat Childs on pts these two hammered lumps out of eachother for 8 rds, another fight you could rematch for easily and the fans would love it.

Akinlade still looks like he could drop a dress size, beat his bloke handily in the first and learned nothing at all. Mismatch.

Burton vs Brown was another scrap, Burton edged it deservedly.

Edwards vs Ojuederie was almost a carbon copy of their first fight except JJ got quite bad damage around the eyes but it never got that bad the doc had to come in. Edwards IMO won it quite widely but Ojuederie has a big set of balls on him, an assesment offset slightly by the fact that Paulie Malignaggi has more stoppages than these two put together. Another fight you'd happily watch again but as its now 2-0 edwards whats the point? Onwards and upwards for both men, possibly at 175 for JJ.

Markham vs Jonkus, Markham won but took too many shots he didnt need to, IMO, the programme notes said 'never in a dull fight' and they were right but its ok to be a little bit duller and win as you go up the levels.

Carter vs Vasek another mismatch. Carter at least didnt look as fleshy as Akinlade but he smashed his oppo inside the first minute or so. Learned nothing.

Main event Lewison vs Dallas,
a well-known publication reckoned Dallas was gonna stop him in the middle rounds. Every time Lewison hit Dallas flush he hurt him. I'm a big fan of Lewison but I dont think he's realistically got massive power, i think its a question mark on dallas, but i could be wrong.
Dallas down once in the first (I thought it was a slip but they counted it) and twice in the second (if memory serves), Lewison slipped in the second too. Stoppage came on the ropes I think the ref knew it was a matter of time.

Be interesting to see where Lewison goes from here - there are no other Area champions but Mcdermott holds the english so maybe a fight against him and then Price? i think the Mcdermott fight is fairly easy to do, without getting libellous I wonder if the money would be right to get Price down to London, or whether Ian would be made mandatory?

OVERALL - 9/10 for the show, great crowd, great fights. Didn't start bang on time but not as bad as last time we were there, we got out of the venue about 11.15 I think which wasn't too sad for 13 fights.
Overall I think all the fights were well matched in terms of either class or durability - Greaves never looked likely to beat Ashaye but he was in there the whole fight,

apart from the two heavyweight prospects.

I know its not an exact science, and that money comes into it, and you want the prospect to get a win, and a stoppage, as it all looks good, and that really its a business not a game called 'make matt happy'... but both of them are good enough to beat someone like Kurtajic, or Wille Herring and they will either stop them and make a statement or beat them and learn a whole lot. No statements were made last night by either man.

Playing it safer someone like Bikoi - back from a layoff, has been stopped but only a couple of times and has good names on his record from Drozd to YP Hernandez. The programme sold Ginters as an all or nothing merchant but its all about learning at this point and its very possible to KO those below your level and lose to or get stopped by those above, hence leading to that 'either or' reputation.

Tune in for some great action. We were really happy with the night. Feedback has been fantastic.

As fas as the heavyweights are concerned. AJ Carter onlyt had 5 amatuer fights and won his pro debut against a journeyman Paul Morris on points. We wanted to bring someone who would have a go so went for an import with a 1-1 record (with one ko) rather than a boring journeyman fight. This on paper seemed a good fight. AJ knocked him out in a round. I think you could call it a mismatch but only in hindsight and credit should be given to AJ for the improvment he is showing.

Dominic had more amateur experience. Ginters was (3-4) and I agree in hindsight this ended up a mismtach (hindsight). It is only Dominics second pro fight amd you dont want to expose them too early whilst they are building up fan base and experience.

I think everyone can see we really go for competitive fights and matches but there are going to be occasions when you have a novice fighter that you have to exercise a level of caution (remember the trainers and managers have a veto on opponents). I think generally we are getting it right and your 9/10 is fair and accepted. Thankyou!

Last night was my first show at York hall and for Goodwin promotions but safe to say I'd come again.

Great value for money with generally evenly matched fighters that were willing to throw big punches from the first round to the last.

Great show Olivia and the promotions team looking forward to the next show!

The problem in my fight with ashaye was simply the fact I was boxing with the hump.that was one of if not the worst shift I've put in in 99 fights.caught a shoulder in the mouth and lost my other front tooth really early on and really lost my head.should know better. Fail!

Fair enough mate, from where we was it looked like you went to boot the cameraman and we assumed you'd half tripped over his gear as it was poking through the ropes, obviously that wasnt the case.

The sound was awful all night, to be fair. Constant feedback issues and knocking noises. Can we do a little vote by shout next time for who actually feels the need for music between rounds? It just seemed to be a bit thrown together, in terms of selection and quality, I didn't feel there was a need for it, certainly not if its going to be of poor quality.

I 100% take on board what you say about the Carter and Akinlade, we see them when they fight, youse get to see them training in the weeks before aswell so you must have a good idea of the level they are at.

Agreed when the sound is not good. However we did a 50 people feedback after the first time we did music in between rounds and 44 wanted it to continue. We believe that it creates an intense atmosphere and makes everything more atmospheric and the boxers respond to it. In all three shows we have used it at have seen fantastic fights.

Ther boxing purist does not like it (My Mum doesnt) (may trainers dont) but generally it seems to be a positive response from the people paying for tickets and those who pay decide!
