ODLH v. Julian Jackson at light middle
A war.What happens?
Re: ODLH v. Julian Jackson at light middle
Oscar ahead after 9 rounds starts to slow down and gets sparked out in the 10th.
Re: ODLH v. Julian Jackson at light middle
I'll take DLH, who had a very good chin and more skills.

Oscar was light years better than the powerful Jackson.
But he'll get buzzed early and fight cautiously the rest of the way, piling up points to win a disappointing decision.

Yeah I think it'd become dull also. Oscar wasn't a stupid fighter.SenorPipino wrote:Oscar was light years better than the powerful Jackson.

Against big punchers, Tito and Quartey, he helped to stink it out.
That's not to say he wasn't effective at times, but his performances lacked the "Wow" factor.

True, though Quartey had some exciting moments.SenorPipino wrote:Against big punchers, Tito and Quartey, he helped to stink it out.

Oscar by KO. I'm a huge Jackson fan, but he, along with another Hawk, are the most overrated fighters in mythical fights from my child hood. Oscar takes a much better punch.

Jackson would need an oxygen tank by the tenth.gilgamesh wrote:Oscar ahead after 9 rounds starts to slow down and gets sparked out in the 10th.

This may well be true, and I'll admit I'm probably one of the guilty parties of this as I'm a big fan of both of those guys and I adore Jackson. His highlight reel knockouts are some of my all time favorites.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:Oscar by KO. DLH winning a decision wouldn't surprise me either, in the scenario that some described earlier, he gets buzzed early and fights cautiously the rest of the way.

I detest Oscar, but he was a level above Jackson and had the chin to back it up. As they say, styles make fights, Norris would light Oscar up.gilgamesh wrote:This may well be true, and I'll admit I'm probably one of the guilty parties of this as I'm a big fan of both of those guys and I adore Jackson. I think Bazooka is better boxer than JJ.Ike and a great boxer and also hit very hard.Rover wrote:True, though Quartey had some exciting moments.SenorPipino wrote:Against big punchers, Tito and Quartey, he helped to stink it out.

I think Oscar beat JJ by TKO in later rounds.
Re: ODLH v. Julian Jackson at light middle
That's a legitimate possibility; I think along the lines of SenorPipino that he'd fight cautiously hence a points win.Vladimir5555 wrote:I think Bazooka is better boxer than JJ.Ike and a great boxer and also hit very hard.Rover wrote:True, though Quartey had some exciting moments.SenorPipino wrote:Against big punchers, Tito and Quartey, he helped to stink it out.

Re: ODLH v. Julian Jackson at light middle
I don't see Oscar getting sparked, I see him winning on points, the only times ODH has been stopped is by body shot and retiring in his last(?) fight. I think ODH in his prime is the sort of opponent to give The Hawk a boxing lesson.gilgamesh wrote:Oscar ahead after 9 rounds starts to slow down and gets sparked out in the 10th.
Re: ODLH v. Julian Jackson at light middle
Oscar would be too clever for JJ in this.

Re: ODLH v. Julian Jackson at light middle
Jackson was an underrated boxer, he also had relatively quick hands. He could also hit with both hands, incredibly hard.
DLH's chin was excellent, despite those early career KDs and the one against Quartey.
I think it's an interesting match, the way to beat Jackson is with a chin - He heavily wobbled and hurt men like McCallum and McClellan before being stopped, but he could also hit to the body where Oscar was hurt a couple of times. I'd say once it goes over the halfway point it becomes more of a whose stamina fades worst. I can see DLH winning by late stoppage at times, points other times and Jackson via stoppage in others. I don't think Oscar escapes any win unscathed.

Re: ODLH v. Julian Jackson at light middle
I think the way to beat jackson was with smart boxing and footwork/movement, Oscar was perfect for this victory. Could be wrong thogh.
Re: ODLH v. Julian Jackson at light middle
Perfect example of that is Herol Graham, he was totally out-boxing Jackson and had him flat-footed and befuddled, eye closed but just left his chin out to hang...The warning signs were there a round or so earlier when he missed with a couple of similar right hands.
I think Oscar's much better than that and also has a great chin, which is what he's going to need.
There's an interview with McCallum somewhere, he said that Jackson really hurt him and he knew he'd have to take him out quickly.

Re: ODLH v. Julian Jackson at light middle
He definitely had Mike rocked, I don't recalling him bothering McClellan with anything but his power wasn't the same at Middleweight.
Re: ODLH v. Julian Jackson at light middle
They traded some bombs, he rattled Gerald in the 2nd or 3rd I think, been a while since I've seen it. He had him blinking a bit and backing off. Definitely wasn't as one-way as most remember.
Agreed on his power @ 160, he was only really a light middle that had bulked up a bit. In the build-up to the rematch (I think) there's an interview about the first fight where he said he trained so hard his weight was down to light middle weeks before the fight and he had to fatten back up.
