This is the average card from about 100 fan scores.

120 Burns - 108 Beltran

(note to potential future employers - no need for fancy hotels, a cheap B&B next to the local knocking shop is all I need)

I had it by 1 round to Beltran but I thought I might be being overly generous with that score to Burns. Bloke I watched it with had it to Beltran by about 4.

Burns 114-114 not as ridiculous as some are making out!!

After the burns fight I have seen loads of extremely negative points made about the scoring of this fight. I agree the judge who gave it 115-112 to burns needs to be questioned without a doubt. However I think the 114-114 verdict wasnt as bad as many folk are making out. I can also see/agree with how the judge scored the fight by 2 rounds to Beltran.

At the end of the day, these judges dont get the same angles. replays etc that folk watching on TV get, they see everything once and sometimes with restricted angles. Its all about interpretation, stylels they prefer etc. Although beltran was backing burns up against the ropes alot, majority of the punches he was throwing was landing on gloves and arms. Fighting a guy in his own backyard, and a champion. He needs to put the rounds more beyond doubt a some where close.

A very close friend of mine who is a referee scored the fight and his unofficial scorecard on the night from ringside was 114-114. However after watching the fight on TV he then said there was 2 rounds he would have gave to Beltran had he seen it on TV. So this shows that on an instant seeing things from their angle live in a fight can have an affect on how things can be seen in comparison to TV viewers.

In my own personal opinion i think you could have argued the 114-114 was acceptable pending on interpretation, however i do agree majority would agree more with the 115-113 to beltran.

Either way, people need to get off Rickys back. He deserves credit for boxing on through 10 rounds of extreme pain. Having boxed myself I have total respect for his bravery to carry on and grind it out. I do reckon Burns will win convincingly should the rematch happen following a full recovery. I definetly believe the broken jaw changed the fight completely.

Boxing has had many of shocking decisions in its time. I dont think this one is the worst ive seen by any means (apart from the judge who gave 115-112 Burns). John simpson amongst others has had plenty of stinkers against him, well worse than this. Maybe new ways of scoring need to be brought in...maybe live TV futage/replays etc should be introduced with extra judges. who knows what can fix it.

Nobody is giving Burns any stick Kyle and there are many giving him praise for his bravery. People are just rightly pointing out that Beltran should have won. I'm pretty sure people seem to universally agree that it was a close fight, but close fights can have clear winners.

Burns may convincingly win the rematch, Beltran might break his jaw again. Even with Burns being in as close to safety first mode as he could, Beltran still found the target fairly easily

Someone needs to put together a 3 min score card, so the judges score each min, and not just the last one as they do at times, they are only human and forget, but if they scored each min, it would give a true reflection of the round and contest.
