News reporting trains stopped after man was hit by one this morning.

"Officers attended the incident which they were alerted to at 5.25am and it is currently being treated as non-suspicious.

"Medics from London Ambulance Service also attended and a man was pronounced dead at the scene. A file will be prepared for the coroner."

The man was struck by a London Victoria to Brighton service and the line was handed back to Network Rail at 6.36am.

A statement on the Southern trains website said: "Due to a person hit by a train just outside of East Croydon station, Southern services on all routes to and from London Victoria and London Bridge via East Croydon are subject to delay, alteration and short notice cancellation until further notice.

Unbelievable news truly shocking RIP Dean Powell.

I worked from home yesterday, as my trains were cancelled because of the incident. Never thought I would know of the person involved. :(

Speechless this is so sad.

Didn't know Dean personally but conversed with him on twitter quite a few times, about the state of boxing these days and the lack of loyalty, about his black country roots and how Ronnie Brown was one of the best he ever worked alongaside and taught him so much, also about his music, he liked his music and we had similar tastes, he was always putting good tunes up on twitter and giving shout outs to bands/artists. He honestly seemed like a genuine really really nice guy. He was also very very underrated as a cornerman in my opinion. So so sad thoughts with his family.

If its depression anything can be going through your mind. Ive had a bad year with one thing and another and to be honest ive been in a dark place some months this year. Ive often had bad thoughts but got myself sorted with some pills. Ive been on boxrec a long time in the last 9 weeks this has helped me with putting up some quiz questions and having a bit of banter. But things could have easily been different.

2 out of 3 of us will suffer depression at some time or another. If this was the case in Mr Powell I really feel for him and all those who have and are suffering.
