Yes, but you had Larry Holmes as THE champ. This era Klitchsko was supposed to be THE champ.

I suppose Leon Spinks has to mentioned somewhere, and also Ingemar Johannson. However, these beat great fighters to win the title and were impressive in doing so - Klitchsko never beat any great fighter.
Good point.

I was going to say Spinks. I feel sorry for him - people say he wasnt a good boxer - the man won olympic gold for Christ sake.

But he is one of the worst.

Tom Podmore.
I know someone else that won an Olympic Gold medal.

If Rahman has to fight for the vacant title then set Toney up with him. :TU:

Shame, for me Vitali was the most exciting heavyweight out there. I loved the Lewis fight, and I never saw him in a dull fight. I know is reign was crap, but who was there to fight?

Looking at the Boxrec top ten now, it's got to be one of the worst ones ever :( .

In the 80´s and 90´s there were some worse champs than we now have.

If things go well, Don King would have one champ after spring 2006: Lamon Brewster who is IMO actually the best one. Kings intention must be a unification bout between Brewster and Byrd to hold two titles. Valuev beats Ruiz, Sam vs Rahman and Wladi is waiting for Byrd or Brewster. Provided Brewster would win he coul make a rematch with Wladi what would be actually the biggest money fight in the US scene.....
