Yeah I could easily see this - I remember Pernell Whittaker, who had similar skills to Floyd, outclassing great fighters like Azumah Nelson..just winning every round.
I'm hoping the size issue can come into play here, and as Jimcook says above, Alvarez looked like a seasoned vet against Trout - really impressive. Don't think he'll freeze on the big stage either...
I think Canelo is younger, fresher, naturally bigger and reminds me a lot of Cotto (an altogher better fighter though than the 154 lb version of Cotto). Cotto gave Floyd one of his toughest fights.
I find it very difficult to back against a man who, despite fighting some of the best fighters around, only once (for me) has looked close to losing (against DLH). I still remain adamant that Floyd comfortably be Castillo twice.
However, I do think Canelo is the real deal.... I don't think he will be the next Floyd in being a "all timer" of the future.... but Floyd struggles at 154 - DLH, Cotto etc... Canelo might just be too big for him. Cannot see him fading like a 30+ DLH and Cotto and if Floyd's hands go then there is problems.
Not been so buzzing about a fight in YEARS! For me this is a harder fighter for Floyd than any version of Pacquiao.
What'd be nice is if the stars align and they are at the stage of their career ie Floyd on the wane and Canelo on the rise, that it pushes both to fight out of their skin. But I don't think that's going to happen and actually think this could be a really boring cat and mouse chase. Be great if I'm wrong but just have a feeling they could cancel each other out and Mayweather's experience and skills will see him to the finishing line... again. But one day it's got to change. No one beats father time.
Not overly arsed about the main event, I gave Alvarez little chance of winning from the outset and I give him even less now he's struggled making the catchweight (which was the point of Floyd imposing it in the first place).
The evening is all about Garcia/Matthysse, I don't think Garcia is going to hear the bell for the sixth.
I think Garcia's going to win. I know Matthyse can bang but they've built him into some kind of mythical KO king. I think Garcia's got the skill, chin and power of his own to win this. Should be a cracking fight.

Garcia's chin won't hold up. Judah was putting the hurt on him, it's going to be an another easy nights work for Matthysse.
if i was betting it would definitely be on Matthyse, here.
i take on board Datsue's comments on his being over-rated for a couple of reasons, i just think this is a classic case of a fight where the stronger punch and chin will prevail.
Garcia will always carry something of a threat, though; when he's under pressure his default is to coil up and unload that counter left hook, and it's a very good punch.
If he had shorter punches, I'd give him a good chance but in my book, he's too easy to get hit and his wide punches won't be much good against Matthysse who will be on him like a cheap suit.
Soto had some success with straight punches before he let himself get crowded and backed onto the ropes.

aye to an extent, Matthyise will always give him openings whilst he's throwing, though. all that said, this one's done by 6 rounds like you say

The American PPV prices still stagger me to be honest. 60 odd quid to watch Mayweather even after that dull affair vs Guerrero. Bizarre.
I'm surprised to see so many people write off Danny Garcia. He surely has an excellent chance of outboxing Mathysse.
Canelo has wasted a few lighter boxers and will have no where near the guile to make life difficult for Floyd; I'm putting a tenner on Garcia to win; he's been overlooked really and some have stated they think (hope) he'll lose because his dad's annoying - I know boxing isn't rocket science but come on...

i dont think it will be easy, it will be mayhem while it lasts, both are big punchers and Garcia is definitely in this fight however i am 75% certain mathysse will win by KO.
I'm not of the opinion that Mathysse is a crude banger who has being overhyped. He is a frightening proposition for any boxer out there. I just really rate Garcia's all round ability and for some reason I want him to win.
I suspect I'll be nervous as hell for Garcia during the introductions for this one. A feeling I get less and less these days.

Could there have been a better chief support.
garcia will really prove something if he wins this noone really gives him that much credit but in reality he has shown that he has power, great timing when letting his big hooks go, heart, and has a decent chin. However matthysse is not overhyped he is a beast.
