Pernell Whitaker v . Jose Luis Castillo
A good match for me.I think Sweat Pea win by decision 8-4
Re: Pernell Whitaker v . Jose Luis Castillo
Chavez was not at his best weight when he fought Whittaker and was a little over the brow...but even then he was superior to Castillo. I can't see Castillo having more success, winning more round than Chavez... Unless I'm underestimating how much Chavez had deteriorated when they fought...and I don't think I am.
Castillo was not at Chavez's level.
Maybe its a styles thing.

Re: Pernell Whitaker v . Jose Luis Castillo
Whitaker was levels above Castillo and would play with him really... just as he did for much of his fight with Chavez.
Re: Pernell Whitaker v . Jose Luis Castillo
Whitaker would do the poor mans Chavez worse than he did the real thing .
Re: Pernell Whitaker v . Jose Luis Castillo
Whitaker wins by at least a 118-110 margin.

It's honestly hard for me to envision Castillo winning more than 2 rounds, and I could easily see a shutout.

I don't think Chavez was that much better than Castillo. Julio also never fought Whitaker in his prime. Pea is too accurate and defensively gifted, there would be some nice exchanges in tight but Whitaker wins wide. 10-2 or so.

I don't see this as all that competitive. Pernell is one of a kind in my opinion.
