If you turn up at a boxing gym sounding off and demanding to fight aged old fighters, then the kind of men you are going to find in there are not going to say, "hold on- that's Charlie Zelanoff, the rumoured to be mentally ill guy who lives an online fantasy existence as a championship boxer, we better call his parents and let him know he is on the loose again." Boxing gyms attract all manner of strange characters, anyone showing up and behaving disrespectfully and looking for violence will get exactly what they are looking for.

That's very true. They're tough enviroments to begin with and there's probably a fair number of boxers who have some kind of mental health problem themself whether it be diagnosed or not.

Whenever you enter a new gym you expect them to go hard on you, this is boxing, they want to see what you are made of and it's about bragging rights, typically you earn the place you want to skip and the bag you want to hit.
They could have gone much harder than him, he got lucky in the light sparring session they had. Things like this teach you whether you should be in a gym or not. It is a professional sport. If you want someone to hold the bag for you, do pads etc and give you easy sparring, you go to a white collar fitness centre, where you pay the extra bucks but you get your ass licked being told you good you are etc.
If you want to be a pro boxing, you don't give it the big one, you learn your trade, take your lumps, sweat blood and tears and have fights. If you can't handle light sparring how can you have a bout. Pro gyms condition you to fight.
