I agree, disagreements are part of a forum like this and if everyone agreed with eachother it would be boring. Where things go too far sometimes is when people insult eachother and call eachother names andstuff like that etc. There is a minority that wants to push their ideas onto other people and can't accept the fact that someone may actually know something that they don't etc.
But all in all I'd say 95% of the people on this forum are ok.
Most of the 5% seem to be on the Current Scene forum!    8)

He's only sent me a couple of pm's, this last one telling me that I should know better being that I am a psychology student, whihch again I find funny coming from him and the first pm was about the dead argument that he just brought back up about when Naseem Hamed supposedly dodged Marquez, which he is about six years late in doing and of which he was also proven wrong in as he again jumped the gun in making accusations, that time about John Shep, that he really had no clue about and ended up being wrong...most people would learn from their mistakes! I will give him this though, I have seen him apologize when he is wrong, which is something very few can, or are willing to do!

That is a great observation, I spent most of my time on the current scene, but obnoxious posters have driven me elsewhere. Since I started in on this forum I have noticed a higher level of maturity and friendly ribbing as opposed to...anything written by Obba Carr and dangerousjohnny. I read the posts mostly, and the few times I post myself I want to make sure I know what I am talking about because you gentlemen have the knowledge! Most of my knowledge of boxers of the past come from ESPN classic and also from documentaries. Not a bad thing, but I am learning quite a bit from you guys so I am happy to read.

I try to keep a good look out over the threads on this forum and if I see any that turn to nothing but insults I delete it plain and simple, no ifs, ands, or buts, though I do miss threads that sometimes turn ugly....like Rubio...I deleted every single post he had on this forum, even the ones that were not offensive and I would do like-wise to anyone that did nothing but insult!

There does seem to be something strange going on with the Current Scene... I actually went on there recently and ended up sucked into a row that I didn't have a clue about, but in a way it was funny because everything was so over the top and I couldn't help myself getting involved somewhat.
Sometimes I think the Current scene is really just two or three people all posting under about 10 different names each and arguing amongst themselves. Maybe I'm being a bit harsh?. .. but I don't think so! .
You're lucky to be able to see those ESPN Classics even though they show the same stuff a lot (so I hear) they still show some real gems sometimes.... didn't they show the Carter vs Gardiello title fight a while back?...

He sent me a batch of rather abusive and obscene emails because of one comment I made which it seems he didn't like. My wife actually took pity on him and wrote him a pm (don't ask me why she's like that, feels sorry for everyone!) and he replied by saying some rather unflattering things about her too!.... which is kind of ironic really as all along he was saying that I'm abusive towards women!... :x :o   .

One thing I like about this board is that I have posted over one hundred times and have yet to be taken to task on spelling or grammer. :D

Iv'e noticed the few who have been eccessivly negative have really not stuck around anyway.

I know I'm correct! Now are you going to send me any more pms about how I speak to people, or are you going to live by your own words before trying to preach to others about how they talk?
I'm going to preach toothers how they talk. Gotta problem with that?

I mean wasn't it you who sent me a load of obsene emails just because I said something on a thread that you didn't like?. Wasn't I exercising my freedom of speech???.
You certainly exercised your freedom of speech with those emails to me including saying some rather nasty stuff about my wife... If I was you I'd have some icecube bathes morning and night as it may cure you of your frustrations. :TU:  8)
Silkov, you do have a very selective memory. It's a common trait among those whom are called "revisionists" whose intentions are to re-write history.
You should go back into your PMs and realize it was you that insulted me first. The fact that I fired back with more gusto than you chose to merely indicates my intensity. And, again with your sexual innnuendos. Perhaps you share your wife with your mates?
Look through threads where I've posted. I've questioned how people arrive at a certain decision. I've asked if they've bumped their head. But time and again, I don't insult, as is being discussed here, other posters unless they've insulted me first. I've called people names after they've thrown the first shot. I've questioned posters sexual preferrences and their collective states of mind as well, but only after I've been insulted first.
I'm not running for "sainthood" on here. And see, that's sarcasm, which I practice on here quite often. That, however, is not insulting someone.

I'm not interested in a tiresome slanging match with you... you insulted me first on the thread and you sent me a abusive email when I hadn't sent you any emails so how was it me that 'threw the first stone'.
The truth is that the biggest hypocrite here is you... end of story.
Not end of story. I insulted you after you fired the first shot. The fact you couldn't handle it shows that you like to start things but can't finish them.

That's right silkov, you posted an insult directed toward me, and I responded. With much more intensity than you had expected. I prefer to carry it out in PM and not waste space on a thread. That goes for you too Barry. If I PM you, it's to finish it in PM and not waste space on a thread going back and forth with you and whomever else.

First of all Barry, as a Psychology student you know what I'm talking about and you are deliberately avoiding a real resopnse to that because you know I'm correct. You of all posters on here, should be able to control themselves from calling posters these schoolyard names I've seen you do.
Secondly, I sent that PM to you in response to your post in a thread about NAZ. And so what if was years ago, some other posters were talking about it; I joined in. I don't see you denigrating them here for talking about something 6 years old. And yes, JohnShep took the time, in PM, to research and back up HIS point. I haven't been proven wrong on MY point. And I did thank JS for taking the time with me as he did. Disagree with him or not, I'll still respect him.
And finally, isn't this forum about opinions? I don't recall making accusations, as you are prone to over-state some things and twist what a person is trying to say, but I did opine that JS's statements about JMM would be tainted, as JS himself was associated with the Hamed camp.
And Barry, so what if I "jumped the gun"? I did say I'd do research and post info that proved me right or wrong. True to my word, I did. I was proven wrong on ONE point. That's a whole lot better than I've seen debates disintegrate into nothing but swearing and name-calling. I've been sucked into some name-calling threads myself, but only after someone has fired at me first.

Alot of guys also cant read a difference of opinion without taking it personal. I love debating and would argue my point all day. I enjoy the fact that people have differing opinions and have at times adjusted my opinion when some one has made an excellent point. I admittingly play devils advocate when I truly disagree with someone and dont believe their points are valid. Although never have i done so with any intended disrespect. When someone gets to the point of frustration were they cant defend their points logically and start getting beligerent and disrespectful,I usually just leave it alone.

I'm sure that if a were sitting in a bar having a beer with someone like Brockton or the great John L., who i have had many spirited debates with, we would have an enjoyable time chatting and debating the sweet science.

Actually, I think we might have to avoid discussing boxing and stick with something less controversial, like politics or religion. :TU:

Ok Silkov, just like Barry, you tend to focus on the side issues and not the main topic.
So I missed one letter while typing "intensity". I guess I'm not as perfect as you are. Faced with such a specimen of perfection such as yourself, I guess I have no other recourse but to hang myself.
