It should be noted that Rawling came on here shamelessly bigging himself up whilst in the guise of a random poster. His commentary is appalling in my view and detracts from every show he is part of. I have issues with lots of broadcasters and pundits but I do try and restrain myself because its not an easy job, but Rawlings deserves no such restraint in my view. It's like listening to the mate a boxing fan brought to his first show. I'm not saying I would be world class, but with the experience and opportunity he has had, he should be far better.
Agree with you James. Crawling has that horrible smug forced delivery that darke,mcrory, and Adam Smith have. Barry Jones isn't trained as a journalist but he does a better job calling the action which dealings seems to forget to do.
That aside jones girlish laugh everytime railings tries to play the comedian grates a little.
As for railings he is so pompous it's a joke like when he apologised fir the language between Garcia snr and jnr.tags there wasn't an expletive in sight at th as t point it was just Garcia snr being forceful
the commentators job is to tell the viewers what's happening.
as there is no scoreboard in boxing when they relay who they they think is winning there will always be an element of opinion about it. So if people don't agree with Mayweather winning wide at the weekend then I guess they think it was a poor commentary.
I think he did well at the weekend.
For example he was very quick to spot the mouse under Matthyse's eye and correctly predicted it was going to cause him big problems.
Overall I think John Rawling is pretty good, he's boxing through and through.

I love Al Bernstein but every so often I disagree with something he says or don't "like" how he's backtracking or whatever but jeez...turn it down!

He and I did pirate radio for a couple of years, I got regularly told I sounded asleep or slowed down.
ha, nah, i don't think 5 minute pauses- or any kind of dead air- would be my problem. i think 'running off at the mouth' would be the best way to put it.....
