FRESH from his two-round destruction of Tom Dallas to win the Southern Area Heavyweight title, Lewison is keeping busy as he fights again in just over two weeks at the Watford Colosseum at the Goodwin Promotions “Boys are Back in town” show.

Manager Steve Goodwin immediately contacted the British Boxing Board of Control to get Lewison made mandatory for John McDermott’s English title which has now gone out to purse bids with the fight to take place by the end of 2013.

“I don’t want to sit and wait for McDermott. I want to keep busy and I am ready to lay another one out on October 8. Then McDermott will be knocked out inside four rounds and then David Price’s British title will be my target.”

“I am delighted how my career has turned round under Steve Goodwin. I promised him over a year ago that I would do for him what Lennox Lewis did for Frank Maloney and I intend to fulfil my promise”

Ian has an international contest on an action packed show which brings professional boxing back to Watford for the first time in four years. Two other heavyweights feature on the bill with Hatfield’s Tom “not so” Little having his first fight since signing with the Goodwin’s and exciting heavyweight prospect AJ Carter looking for this third successive win.

“The Boys and Back in Town” is aptly names as the show is headlined by two local lads Liam and Miles Shinkwin who both have 6 round International contests.

St Albans Welterweight Danny Murphy features and the show sees the debut of the exciting “Lionheart” Dave Leo at Featherweight.

good to see boxing in Watford and Lewison gatting busy at last he needs a durable opponent who will take him a few rounds and give him a workout.

If he has to go through Price for the British title then he has no chance, if Price vacates then he might be able to win it.

Definitely, in time. I don't think Hughie is quite ready for Lewison yet. Lewison is bone idle but he's a very well drilled boxer who could exploit Hughie's vulnerabilities. Hughie is a kid with a lot of potential but he's still learning his craft.

The main criticism I have of Lewison right now - and it may well stem from him knowing his fitness is questionable - is that he's coming out of the traps too quickly, trying to rush the job. His chin is good enough to get away with being reckless against Dorian Darch and Tom Dallas but guys like John McDermott and beyond should be shown a little more respect. Lewison needs to slow things down and think about what's coming back at him, he can do this, I've seen him do it in the amateurs.

i totally agree with this. Hughie is vulnerable at the moment and Lewison would do him but I don't think he will beat Mcdermott until he gets a lot fitter and gets a few more rounds under his belt.

Steve/Olivia, I know the focus is on the 8 Oct 13 but I have a couple of questions related to the show at York Hall on 16 Nov 13.

1. I see that Larry has been pulled. Do you know/can you reveal what the state of play is with him and when we're likely to seem him boxing?

2. Tom Dallas is on the card. What's the plan there?

1) Steve does not manage Larry. He is still under managerial contract to allegedly until 7th December so can not answer that one definitively. There may be an option coming up for Larry if not he may still be re-added to the November card

2) Tom tried to outfight Ian Lewison. That was a crazy game plan. There was only one winner in that. tom is going back to the drawing board and will have a rebuild fight in November. Again Steve does not manage him so is not in charge of his plans.

My Dad manages Ian Lewison, Menay Edwards and Lee Markham amongst others and you can see the strides they are making so even though I am biased I know how strategically he plans things and does a gerat job. When we just promote the boxers and dont manage them we dont have the final decisions although I know my Dad does try to help but its not his final call.

Good on you Olivia its nice to see a promoter testing his/her boys and obviously risking a lot of money in the process. I hope one of your lads make a big breakthrough for you

Lewison has talent but he's obviously bone idle. The man is badly out of shape for life in general never mind a professional athlete. I don't know how he can look at himself in the mirror and call himself an athlete with a stone and a half of excess fat coming from his chest and stomach. If I he starts coming in closer to 16stone I'd give him a great chance of stepping up against price and towers. But if he continues to plod on coming in at 17st7lbs to 18st he's gonna find that the likes of Tom Dallas and Darch are where his limitations lie.
