Im with Kevin Bridges "eff it,ll be a laugh"

In the news this morning . 11,000 secondary school children in Aberdeenshire ( the constituency of Alex Salmond , or wee eck as he's known) were asked to take part in a mock vote for independence. 80 % voted . Of those who voted 80% were for staying as part of Britain and 20% were for independence.
I've heard that the SNP have now abandoned all plans to extend the vote to pre-school children !!!

I think reason it'll be 'no' is because Scotland is so reliant on the public sector, either through work or welfare (over the course of their lives, 9/10 Scots take more out than they put in).

From a total 5.3 million population:-

Taking out through welfare:
Children and teenagers: 22.39% (1.19 million)
Over 65s: 16.87% (894,100)
Unemployed: 3.83% (203,000)
University students: 3.96% (210,000)
Sick/disability claimants: 3.21% (170,000)
Sub Total: 50.26%

Taking out through public sector employment:
Public sector workers: 10.96% (531,000)
Sub Total: 61.22%

Private Sector
Private sector workers: 36.64% (1,941,700) - of these a significant percentage are reliant on government contracts.
Sub Total: 97.86%

The Remainder: 2.14% are either drunk on a bench or shooting grouse. Seriously, I think it'll be vocational adult education.

I actually think the above is why they should say 'yes'. Not because they're a drain but because it will free them up a little to forge their own path.

back to the original question , i don't think it will make a big difference as irish boxers have fought for a british title while not being british so i can't imagine they will be to tight on the scots .

Serioulsy? your obv having a dig because they extended the vote to 16-18 y/o . I think its a great idea as its them who will be affected most by this and if your old enough to pay tax/join the army and have a child then im sure you should be able to have a vote on something that affects your future.

Well true i would like to think they would keep letting the Scottish fighters fight for the Belt ,as the Eng/Sco fights always have that extra dimension to it because of the rivalry .

I mentioned the Isle of Man , now Jay Morris is from there and im sure he boxes under a British Liceance. Now the IOM is not part of the United Kingdom or Northern Ireland so they must be a set of rules in place for him and other IOM (apolagies i cant name others) to fight for Lonsdales and the like .

Jay Morris is from the Isle of Wight, which is part of England, I don't know the situation with the Isle of Man, it's sort of independent and sort of not.

damianhucker1 wrote:With Scottish government people wanting to become independant , how will that effect boxing , Obviously the British title would no longer be available for Scots , but id assume they would first have to establish a boxing board of their own , so it could mean we get Non Brits holding British titles which could then open all sorts of silly doors to other foreign boxers through legal loopholes .

Im sure its not just boxing that will be effected in this way either .
Non Brits already do fight for British titles!

dalcumly wrote:Trust me. There is absolutely no chance of Scotland voting for independence. All opinion polls have those for independence at 30% or less. I have yet to meet ANYONE who is going to vote for it. I am a proud Brit and Scot. And in my opinion Britain consists of England, Scotland , Wales and Northern Ireland and anyone who tries to say differently is splitting hairs.
It doesnt actually!

It's not part of England, but it's not fully independent, it's not in the UN, FIFA etc and foreign matters are controlled from London.
