Got to give him props! Not sure how smart it is but I admire his courage.... http://ringtv.craveonline.com/blog/1809 ... ev-rematch

He should fight Maccarinelli and build himself back up before he goes for a world title again.

He gets stopped earlier if they rematch.Horse wrote:He doesn't deserve props for being an idiot.columbo wrote:Got to give him props! Not sure how smart it is but I admire his courage.... http://ringtv.craveonline.com/blog/1809 ... ev-rematch

Pride comes before a (another) fall.
Re: Cleverly wants immediate Kovalev rematch
he didn't lose to a lucky shot or a dodgy decision, it wasn't a close intriguing contest.
clev was comprehensively beaten by the better fighter and the stronger man. i saw nothing from that first fight that makes me think he can turn it around.
enzo and/or bellew are sellable and winnable match ups now and will generate some local interest. go make some money and avoid any more beatings nathan.

Re: Cleverly wants immediate Kovalev rematch
Takes balls to go straight in again with Kovalev. Not sure he would get the fight as Kovalev will be looking for bigger money.
Can`t see it ending any other way if he does get another shot.

Re: Cleverly wants immediate Kovalev rematch
Would be a daft decision, hopefully his management if he has any will not let him near it.
Re: Cleverly wants immediate Kovalev rematch
Sounds like his head hasn't cleared yet and is still concussed.

However fit he gets that guy will always be levels ahead of him. Fight Dean Francis instead.

Re: Cleverly wants immediate Kovalev rematch
What happened to Cleverley being sensible, realising his level and assessing his career?
Re: Cleverly wants immediate Kovalev rematch
Good call, there would be good money for both in a Nathan v Enzo scrap and (if he won) it would show if he were able to get back in with the top men.Horse wrote:He doesn't deserve props for being an idiot.columbo wrote:Got to give him props! A rematch would be the end of his career.

Re: Cleverly wants immediate Kovalev rematch
NC: I don’t think there’s the need for a dramatic change because I just got caught and at this level, against a big puncher, that can happen.
Re: Cleverly wants immediate Kovalev rematch
whats the point he got humiliated in his last fight, no one would realistically give him a cat in hells chance in a rematch also he was a paper champ why does he deserve another world title shot, he didnt beat one single world class fighter and was gifted a vacant belt his record is very very poor - go earn that shot cleverly.

Re: Cleverly wants immediate Kovalev rematch
Well he'll have to make some kind of improvement. Was man against boy first time around. Don't know what he could do next time. Kovalev just looked 'better' in every department.
Re: Cleverly wants immediate Kovalev rematch
I don't think Frank will push it through, he will tell Clev that he cannot get them to agree and barely try. Frank knows it would be pointless. I see a fight with Enzo taking place!
Re: Cleverly wants immediate Kovalev rematch
Nathan comes across well again but it's clearly just his hurt pride that makes him want the rematch. That's totally understandable and it's the sort of self delusion that boxers probably need to fight on after a big loss and their handlers need to protect them from (see Froch v Ward rematch).
Obviously any rematch in the short term (or probably ever) would be a big big mistake which i'm sure Warren won't allow if there is any money in him fighting domestically.

Re: Cleverly wants immediate Kovalev rematch
Thee most ridiculous thing boxing related I've heard this year.
Given recent score card's that's not said lightly.
Cleverly by name but clearly not by nature.

Get Louie Spence in for sparring and we go again in 10 weeks.
Re: Cleverly wants immediate Kovalev rematch
Cleverly wouldn't last a round if they have a rematch.
If I was allegedly. I'd get him in with Enzo Maccarinelli for the commonwealth title. They are both with allegedly and Enzo has been wanting this fight for years. It's a really easy fight to make and it would make decent money over in Wales too.
I'll be surprised if Cleverly's next fight isn't against Enzo. It's just too perfect.

He doesn't really want the rematch...he's just saying that to try to get some pride back- let him have that.

Re: Cleverly wants immediate Kovalev rematch
He maybe does. Maybe disrespected Kovalev's power, watched the tape back and thought "I couldn't have fought a tactically worse fight if I tried". Bad taste putting that up, GOmez, just because Clev always wanted to fight Froch...
Re: Cleverly wants immediate Kovalev rematch
Can't see that given that Clev threw very little, his output was almost entirely jabs, he focused mainly on covering up, and he stated post fight that he realized in the opening round that he'd be knocked out if Kovalev landed cleanly. His actions in the ring and his words outside the ring generally suggest he respected Kovalev's power, especially when contrasted with his usual high-volume and sometimes reckless approach.mickey1975 wrote:He maybe does. If you're struggling to think of how he could've fought a tactically worse fight, imagine him walking straight to Kovalev from the opening bell and trading power punches without abandon in an attempt to score a stoppage .
