Does anyone think Ryder will win?

Post by WelshJack »

I haven't seen many people back against BJS, just interested to see if anyone thinks he can do it and how?

I've not seen anything in his pro career to suggest he's going to win. I recently looked at a couple of his fights on youtube and wasn't that impressed. Good luck to the lad but I think he's really up against it. It would be great to see Saunders really tested though.

I see Saunders as a clear favourite, but that says more about the quality of Billy-Joe than the lack of quality of Ryder. I can see either man recovering from a loss to get back to at least Euro level, although I think Billy-Joe has the potential to pick up a cheap world title.

Either way, having unbeaten fighters matched at this stage of their careers can only be a good thing, and credit due to all involved for making (allowing) it to happen (See also Walsh v Murray, Galahad v Dickens and Smith v Ochieng to an extent).

I like Ryder, he is a good quality pro and will be strong on the British Level for years to come. This isn't his time to win the title though IMO, I see BJS as being a full level above Ryder, even at this stage.

I think Ryder might have a bit of power to his shots, he looked a little stronger than I gave him credit for last time out, but I just think he is out of his depth.

Though he may win a title in the future. I'd back him against Eubank Jr for a british title fight in the future, maybe when Saunders vacates.

What I have seen of Ryder he looks very good indeed.

I have just not seen enough of him to pick him against anyone a bit decent like BJS.

It's not out of the question him winning, but you cannot fault anyone for picking the proven man in this one.

Billy has great skills, i just wish he had some pop.

Yep i'm backing him to win.

The snap seems to leave bjs's shots after about 4 rounds and i think it will be at that point that ryder really starts to put it on him.

Ryder points win or late stoppage.

I've said it on here before. Both are good fighters, a brilliant match and both can come again win oir lose but I feel Ryder is going to suprise a lot of people and win this fight.

The longer the fights goes on the better chance Ryder has of winning - I don't think BJS has the power to stop Ryder.

I like Ryder he's good some skills and a decent shot and has a tight defense.

The only way BJS win this is on points but I think Ryder might suprise a few people.

Saunders has proven 12 round fitness and has proved amateur and pro to be a level or 2 above Ryder, it may be a good scrap but Saunders will be too slick, fit and know too many tricks for Ryder who looks strong but a bit basic.

Saunders will win this but he shouldn't be a middleweight, I can't see him making a mark at world level.

Ryder is a big strong lad but I think he will struggle with Billys skills and speed. I can see him slowing up in the later rounds and possibly even getting stopped.

Can't argue with bjs getting tipped but I fancy Ryder in this one.
People keep mentioning his strength & ploughing fwd & don't understand he can box was a top amateur who gave George groves a close fight & there was a big size factor in that fight as no l.middle. Category was there.
Ryder is hard to hit he has that awkwardness like Colin Dunne had & rolls well. The o'kane fight he was backed up to start with & boxed of the back foot & counterd beautifully then o'kane backed up & got broken down.

:o lol

His come forward style makes him easy to hit, I think BJS couldn't ask for a better opponent to look good against, think he will pick him easily..

Me too :TU: Ryder looks like Colin Dunne and that's about it, has he been past 8? Saunders is too much in every way - I'm having a tenner treble on Saunders, Chisora and Gavin all to win - not picking how.

I'm a massive massive Ryder fan. Watched him loads in gym and at fights.....I really really believe he will stop BJS late. Ryder has the lot and I think this is his coming out fight

Maybe pal :TU: I just think that if he was so good as an amateur then he'd have won the novices and then had a crack at the ABA proper; the men he's boxed do not really match up to Saunders opposition and Billy Joe has had a lot of scrutiny with every mistake and misstep picked over - Ryder has had the advantage of being in the shadows; I don't think Ryder hits hard enough to knock Saunders cold and I think that if Ryder is still there at 8 rounds then Saunders will pull away over the last 4.

I like Ryders boxing style but i think ultimately BJS will throw too many punches.

Both Saunders and Ryder look too small to be middleweights to me. They both look like they'd be better suited at 154. Ryder in particular looks really short for 160.

Yes but he's built like a brick shithouse :D

Bjs always looks a bit soft round the middle to me.
