I would think Nigel Benn was the Boxing fan's Champion, certainly for me Nigel Benn would be. Overall, I would think Frank Bruno would be the nations. Back in the day of Bruno, even your Granny liked him

Respected fighters, on both sides of the Atlantic who were not champions, Tony Sibson & Colin Jones, both tough fighters with great heart.

Lioy Honeygon is one fighter I think who has great respect, and I think though apparently not a nice person is Alan Minter (former UNDISPUTED middleweight world champ)

Cooper followed by Benn and McGuigan, although you shouldn't really mention Benn without Eubank, it was the rivalry that the public loved just most people sided with the dark destroyer.

But speak to people who are from Cooper's generation and the public had a real love for that man. I've always found him to be quite irritating.

Well if it respect from the population as a whole, en masse, then it is without question Henry Cooper, probably followed by Frank Bruno.

Generally speaking if you ask some random bloke who Henry Cooper is... he knows. He sure as shit won't know who Silence Saheed is...

After Frank Bruno KO'd Bugner then the big man took Cooper's mantle as the best loved boxer in the UK.

Lennox may have been the BEST we have produced but even he is not the household name Henry or Frank are.

Barry McGuigan, Jim Watt, Nigel Benn, Chris Eubank, Prince Naseem have all come along recently but either Henry or Frank are the peoples choice.

Henry Cooper is british through and through (I hope the term is correct?). Lennox doesn´t represent that. How long did he really live in Britain?
