froch vs groves ringside
froch vs groves ringside
Anyone have a link? Heard it got quite tasty. Any mention of adam booth on there?
Re: froch vs groves ringside
Not really, Groves came across relaxed and Froch seemed pissed off and came across as a bit of a prick. It seemed like there was more to it than what was shown.

Re: froch vs groves ringside
Froch seemed awfully wound up by Groves, who on camera at least, didn't do anything worthy of such angst.
Froch stated that Groves doesn't belong in the same ring as him & seemed upset that Groves hadn't praised him to the hilt.
What does Froch expect; for Groves to wipe his backside for him or something?

I enjoyed when Carl started his usual "Pascal, taylor,,," and George said "oh no, don't start reeling off your opponents again...! It has become a bit tedious. Its like when Ricky goes on about the night he beat Kostya. Didn't get how Carl thinks he has only lost once, either? When George pointed out Kessler beat him, Carl replied he won the rematch, "so is that how it works now?". I bet Ray Leonard is glad Duran never beat him.

Froch seems annoyed. Not sure if this is good for Groves or not! Never really seen Carl like that before
Surprised Froch has not yet mentioned the Anderson fight

Yes I thought so too. Froch came across as a petulant child.... Something must've gone on behind the scenes, maybe when they trained.SNG wrote:Not really, Groves came across relaxed and Froch seemed pissed off and came across as a bit of a prick. Re: froch vs groves ringside
Has Groves shrunk from when they did the head to head?! I mean look at Groves's height in relation to Froch in this vid http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xTyI1K9hqFE and then look when they did the head to head .. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yJJgre22htw .... can anyone explain that?! Haha.

Froch comes across as an arrogant man. Remember him trying to taunt Calzaghe where was this 'respect' that he seems to think champions deserve back then? Based purely on his petulance I hope Groves does a number on him.

Re: froch vs groves ringside
I think George does him. Froch is good but overrated. His chin is not as granite as he thinks and technically he is not the best. You can also see in his eyes in fights when he is worried.
Groves UD. Maybe a tko. I'm sure booth will be back soon. It's a ploy.

Re: froch vs groves ringside
Groves ain't exactly the likeable chap he used to be these days. The amount of times I have read Froch is over rated and not that good technically, yet he gives everyone fits. Even Ward had some uncomfortable moments and Groves can't lace Ward's boots.
Its always the same after any Froch fight. The opponent comes away saying Froch is better than he thought and difficult to fight etc
The sparring between them, namely when Froch knocked Groves out, is a pretty good indicator of where this one is going

Re: froch vs groves ringside
Froch is a bell end no doubt. He seems pissed that Groves got his shot. He's mando!!
Upset on the card here... Groves technically is the better boxer no doubt. He's proved he can stick to game plan to get the win ala Degale. I see him frustrating Froch with his movement early doors, once Froch starts swinging an missing it's jus a matter of time!
Groves win maybe late stoppage

Re: froch vs groves ringside
I can see Groves being beaten in a similar fashion to Bute....Froch wants to smash him now, you can see it....Groves is so smug, I find him very irritating
Re: froch vs groves ringside
Groves has it coming, big time.
You won't see him fight again in any sort of meaningful display after the 23rd.

Re: froch vs groves ringside
There really is no love lost between these 2... i knew they didn't like each but what i saw was froch riled up over this match..... however Carl is right when he says this is to early for groves... and with booth not being groves trainer this could be dodgy ground for groves... whether groves can pull it off i am unsure.. Carl will walk thru groves punches and clip groves a few times... George hasn got the solidist of chins... carl has the hunger (er well hatred)and has been here before and done these title fights dozens of times.. if george loses i pretty sure hel have a another crack at some sort of world title however if carl loses that could be it for carl, so i spose this is why carl is riled ..he has a lot more to lose than groves...

I think Froch will win, but no way will he just walk through George's punches if he lands like he did on Smith or in his last fight. They would shake any man.ajwesty13 wrote:There really is no love lost between these 2... i knew they didn't like each but what i saw was froch riled up over this match..... however Carl is right when he says this is to early for groves... and with booth not being groves trainer this could be dodgy ground for groves... whether groves can pull it off i am unsure.. Re: froch vs groves ringside
Groves has really taken on a lot of Booth's mannerisms and way of speaking.
Re: froch vs groves ringside
I like Groves but I tend to agree with Carl a bit on this one.
No one is saying that Groves should kiss his arse but maybe after a long time where Froch hasn't gotten the respect he probably deserves, now that he clearly does and in his mind he isn't getting it he probably feels pissed off.
Groves hasn't fought anyone like Froch, Groves is good but unless Froch suddenly gets old in this fight then I fear Groves is in for a pasting, I think this fight is 12 months too soon for Groves. I'm not sure he holds a shot very well and if Kenny Anderson and Paul Smith can hurt you, Froch will do more than that.
Good, interesting fight though.

Re: froch vs groves ringside
At first I called "BOLLOCKS" on the split, but apparently according to FW's column today, him and Dean Powell had to patch things up between Adam Booth and George Groves last year sometime - after Booth claimed attitude problems and that he "wasn't listening" to him anymore.
The odds on George Groves springing an upset when he challenges Carl Froch for the WBA and IBF super-middleweight belts may have widened significantly after news broke this week that he'd parted company with long-term manager-trainer Adam Booth.
There had been a similar rift when I was working with the pair last year because apparently 'St George' had stopped listening. Dean Powell and I helped to iron out the differences then but now it seems Adam – guru to David Haye has had enough.

Interesting. That definietly adds a new perspective to things.G0mez wrote:At first I called "BOLLOCKS" on the split, but apparently according to FW's column today, him and Dean Powell had to patch things up between Adam Booth and George Groves last year sometime - after Booth claimed attitude problems and that he "wasn't listening" to him anymore.

Re: froch vs groves ringside
sorry mickey i beg to differ i dont think froch is going to a clevery and hope his chin will hold out to get his punches off ....but froch has a granite chin and is strong as an ox and already has been in the ring with the likes of kessler who didnt manage to put froch on the canvas in 24 rounds and even round 11 of their last fight when kessler caught froch with a couple of bangers but in couple of seconds froch was back in the room and connected with a few himself.. george wil get a little surprise how strong froch ismickey1975 wrote:I think Froch will win, but no way will he just walk through George's punches if he lands like he did on Smith or in his last fight. So basically youre agreeing with what I am saying? He wont just walk through them?ajwesty13 wrote:sorry mickey i beg to differ i dont think froch is going to a clevery and hope his chin will hold out to get his punches off ....but froch has a granite chin and is strong as an ox and already has been in the ring with the likes of kessler who didnt manage to put froch on the canvas in 24 rounds and even round 11 of their last fight when kessler caught froch with a couple of bangers but in couple of seconds froch was back in the room and connected with a few himself.. george wil get a little surprise how strong froch ismickey1975 wrote:I think Froch will win, but no way will he just walk through George's punches if he lands like he did on Smith or in his last fight. Re: froch vs groves ringside
erm I think we are sort of readin from the same page mickey but maybe what i wrote got a bit lost in translation haha... no doubt George will connect with a few punches however froch will still be there when most of groves opponents would have crumbled..this may surprise Groves... itl be interesting fight though but george is a clever boxer and i dont think its going to be a total maulingmickey1975 wrote:So basically youre agreeing with what I am saying? however its to early really for groves
Re: froch vs groves ringside
Froch is clearly trying to generate needle to get himself motivated for the fight. It always seems difficult when someone has been at world level to then go and fight some up and comer.
Can't see Groves standing a chance without Booth, even with him would need Froch to be somewhat complacent.

Re: froch vs groves ringside
I agree Froch will win this (middle rounds KO i think) but he has come across badly in the build up to this one. He hasn't got the exposure he probably deserves from his career but if he insists on taking this approach he won't appeal to the casual fans. Its one thing being mean, another to act like a plonker.
