Mesi got scared to death when he stepped up in competition vs Vassily Jirov and ended up with a brain clot. That was a career stopper.IRLangmaid25 wrote:Baby Joe Mesi. 36-0 with 29 Knockouts http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_ ... &cat=boxer

Hey Martin, did you have a big row with Lee on a documentary about the TKO gym Tenerife? It was either you or Kevin from memory.
Anyone heard anything about Michael Maguire? People raved about him in the amateurs but last I heard he'd quit the sport - still unbeaten....

Ian Wilson has suffered with injuries but still hopes to return to boxing. I think he's a real talent.
Re: retirted unbeaten..........but without any significant title
jawaid khaliq won the IBO title and mixed in with some top class opponents. not world class but just short of that. another fighter to retire undefeated was ricardo samms, he had a ton of potential.

The story is that Epton decided to pack it in when he was given a really hard time in sparring by a 16-year old Naz. Apparently, it was such a chasening experience that Epton decided boxing really wasn't for him any more.
You know I've seen the infamous Naz-Epton spar in Wincobank on tape, and Mark did all right. He picked up a swelling around the eye but was never wobbled or anything.

I was looking at Boxrec for any info, but what happened to Welsh Flyweight Mo Nassir? I thought he turned over, but I cannot see to find his record. Did he actually fight anyone, has he retired?
I know very young to state if he fits into this thread, just wondering whats happened to him?

Mo failed a brain scan the last i heard. He was supposed to be turning pro with Enzo Calzaghe as his manager.

Agh 'the Monk'. I think I recall seeing his debut on the undercard of Wayne McCullough-Jose Luis Bueno and also featured Vince 'the Sligo Kid' Feeney and a cracking fight involving Shannon Taylor.ed robinson wrote:I used to train with a guy called Anthony McFadden - a light-middleweight who was very heavy handed. He quit the sport unbeaten and has done well in business.
It was the first pro show I attended and I was impressed by McFadden who, as the Floater, made his entry to an emptying hall.
I always tried to follow what he went on to do as he sort of disappeared and then someone told be he had a Building Surveying firm in Donegal/Derry.

macho- he says he got beaten once, ergo he isn't claiming Jawaid was unbeaten.MachoMan09 wrote:Whilst your last statement is bollocks, the rest of your post is a good shout - except for the fact he wasn't unbeaten. Jawaid was a fantastic boxer and it was a real shame when he decided to knock it on the head at 36. In my view, he was at his peak at the wrong time politically to be able to get big fights in the States - who wanted to see a guy with a name like Jav's possibly beating American champions circa 2001-2004. As far as I know, he's still doing some taxi work but his main passion lies with the gym he and his brother opened a year or two back.mugabi wrote:Sure this guy got beaten once but he retired at his peak with some good wins and an ibo title.....and he's a guy who despite a crowd pleasing mix of skill, power and vulnerability never gets talked about anywhere....................javaid "too sleeq" khaliq.....he was a british pakistani ring hero before amir khan......too bad nottingham doesnt support its own fighters

why dont u sod off back to botp instead of constantly stalking my posts?Counter-puncher wrote:yeah, right.mugabi wrote:too bad nottingham doesnt support its own fighters
carl Froch has to pay those 8000 people to turn up every time.
khaliq wasnt supported in nottingham and others such as the two brothers werent either. u think if froch or anyone was such a draw in nottingham the fight wouldnt be held in a football ground? 8000 big wow i bet most of them were from other places and travelled
if froch was so well supported in nottingham.....which as one of britains best ever fighters youd think he should be.......why are his fights taking place in places like helsinki, denmark and almost always anywhere but nottingham and it isnt about super 6 home and away stipulations. Nottingham is a big city it has two football grounds.
