Carlos Monzon?

The great Argentinian boxer Carlos Monzon. ------ How do you think Carlos should rank?

In regards to the Middleweight Division?

In the pound for pound category?

Would Carlos have been great in any of professional boxings respective eras?

He was undeniably an all-time top 5 Middleweight. I'd put him at number 2.

P4P is too tricky to nail but I'm pretty sure he'd be in the top 40...maybe higher.

If he was active now he'd be the champion.

Best middleweight, and probably top 10 pound for pound. If not, just outside of it.

I agree with u on that one. AT pound per pound, he is probably between 15 to 20 slot.

There aren't many people that you look into and think, shit, I wish I saw him box, he was just before my time. A legend by all accounts. All time top 10 P4P probably, top 5 MW ever, for sure, best, well why not.

Top five for sure.
I got him with Robinson,Walker,Greb,Hagler. Guys like that.
He had such a difficult style rangy, tall, good power big right hand good chin the whole bit.
He had a nasty side too that he parlayed into a will to win. Caught up with him later on but thats another story.

I know I'm in the minority but I don't rank Monzon as high as everyone else. He had a great run and a great record against but the competition just wasn't there for him . As for his title run and dominance I can't deny him but there are several middleweights I would pick to beat him in a head to head fight .

Best Middleweight champion (and one of the most dominant champions, period) of the modern era, and perhaps the best pure Middleweight champ of all time. Top 25 pound for pounder of all time.

When it comes to Middleweight champs, I think you have Greb,Hagler & Monzon as the clear top 3. P4P Monzon and Hagler 15-35 and Greb top 3.

Just read a really good interview he gave to a Uruguayan paper in 1987, brutally honest, one year before he commited murder.

He tells of his drinking problems, his daily boredom away from the game, his huge thirst for money preferably dollars, dislike for women that get too close to him, being married 4 times was a joke, his destiny to be alone, his only love his kids. He was asked by a brave interviwer do you still need a psychologist, he said no, he is his own doctor. He has money and everything he needs in life and more but has to be alone, has faith in God to keep safe his kids mother.

When asked his name, "Carlos Monzon ...........THE champion"
