Glasgow 24th September.
Re: Glasgow 24th September.
As soon as there is a thread about boxing in scotland it always just turns into a cock fight between the same old names.
My fighter could do this, my fighter could do that, my mate can sell this many tickets, your mate cant.
We may not have many top level fighters but we could contend for world titles in bitching...... In quite a few weight divisions.

Re: Glasgow 24th September.
I find it so funny that both billy and Davidee prove my point. You go on about ricky selling x amount, ronnie selling y amount, brothy selling 3 tickets. At the end of the day the vast majority of the tickets should be sold by morrison or gilmour the promoters but the end of the day they old pudendum could barely sell fanny in a hoore house.
I fought on a amatuer/semi pro show in edinburgh that sold 2000 tickets tonight.
There was a show in Kilmarnock that iam sure was meant to be Morrison that got cancelled cos he cant sell fornicate all.
Its laughable when Billy says Alex is a good promoter because he gets his fighters on sky. If it wasnt for ricky that dinosaur pudendum would be extinct by now.

Re: Glasgow 24th September.
Agree with the last poster. Promotors should be doing there job but it seems in pro boxing don't sell tickets you don't fight. Fighters should train and fight not be chasing people for money. Ronnie has a lot of friends and family who take that job off h and I'm sure lee Mcallister has the same. Couldn't very any more right about the Morrison fighters. They won't be on tv for a while as Ricky recovers from injury and if he ever does loss they will be same boat as other fighters.

Re: Glasgow 24th September.
I see the point your making mate but The most important thing that your negeletcting is Ricky has the talent the top sky shows and Alex has moved him into that position,at present Tommy hasn't anyone to top a sky show that why he goes cap in hand to promoters with tv.bluenoseshf wrote:I find it so funny that both billy and Davidee prove my point. So to further enhance my point why do Tommy and Paul pull fighters off show if a fighter doesn't sell enough tickets, something the BBBofC say shouldn't be getting done, ive never know Alex to do this ever.

To put a more positive spin something like " hopefully it will be a while till Ricky losses and in the meantime the undercard fighters need to develop and try and reach a level were they can top sky shows themselves" you reall come across a negative manJamieM wrote:Agree with the last poster. Re: Glasgow 24th September.
I'm sure Ricky can sell loads of tickets because the Coatbridge boys are loyal but i was just wanting to put it out there that there are other ticket sellers out there not just Ricky Burns and David Brophy both who train with Billy!!
For the world title fights the attendances were (these are estimations based on what I saw on TV and reported figures)
Martinez - 2,500 sell out
Evensen - 4,000
Laryea - 5,000
Cook - ?
Katsidis - ?
Moses - 6,000
Mitchell - 9,000+
Gonzalez - 7,000
Beltran - 7,000
For the Mitchell fight there was practically no undercard, Simpson in a Celtic title fight was the only fight over 8 rounds.
If those figures aren't right or someone has the attendances then feel free to correct me.
7,000 is a fair bit off 10,000 too!! haha
I know quite a lot of people attended the Mitchell fight to see Scott Harrison but if those figures are true then they are very good attendances. You also have to remember that Aberdeen doesn't have the population or the other fighters to sell out arena's that big but i believe that if we could have got the win against Shafikov then we could have opened the arena out to 5000 to defend against a bigger name. Nobody had ever heard of him and lee was only the challenger for the title, all the undercard fights except Matty and Darren Traynor doing 4 rounders were Maloney's boys from down south and they never sold any tickets.
But thats the promoters job to stack a bill full of his fighters not full of young lads doing 4x3's thats conning the public but I cant understand why nobody knew Shafikov hes an excellent fighter but to say there was no other challenger for Shafikov is a bit far fetched David.
The guy came because he was getting more money than hed have earned before, he was the champion fighting in the challengers home town you get well paid
Haha Billy maybe you should have read the post properly, I said that Lee was ONLY THE CHALLENGER for the belt!! Denis was the champion so that makes Lee the CHALLENGER does it not?
I never said Lee was THE only challenger he could have boxed but Lee was definitely the challenger for the belt on that night mate.
If nothing else Billy your good for a laugh at times!! Haha
I'd also like to say that it's great that Ricky is keeping Scottish boxing on TV and long may it continue because without the exposure Scottish boxing will be in the dark. Whether we like it or not there is no other fighter worthy of topping a TV bill in Scotland at present.
