light heavy is not weak. Sure, tarver looks faded. But Tomasz Adamek (WBC champ), Paul Briggs (WBC number 1) had an amazing fight this year, and both look very hard to beat. tey're young, fresh, gritty and strong.
Zsolt Erdei (WBO champ) just won one hell of a fight. IBF's Clinton Woods has improved immeasurably, with convincing wins over Hoye and Gonzales, and has that 'steadiness' that good title holders are supposed to. Johnson proved he wasn't shot by stopping Khalid Jones. Eric Harding, who broke the jaw of a fresh Tarver, is back with wins over a couple of top contenders. let's not forget Tiozzo, the WBA champ who beat Branco and Michalczewski (and back in '95, the great Mike McCallum).
more like the light heavies are overlooked

I don't think we can assume that Lacy will take over s/m if he stays there. A guy like Kessler, with the size, combinations and solid jab could make Lacy look bad. Lacy's advantage is his activity, attitude and improvement. But he still looks a little raw. That right hand is very wide & someone could punish him on the counter.

Lacy's too slow to box with Joe and Beyer's lost to Green the first time and Lucas and both couldn't even stop Sheika!steve689 wrote:Light Heavyweight is a solid division, Briggs-Adamek was a war!!
As for Joe laying the "smack down" on Beyer and Lacy well that's all opinions, we won't know until we see the fights will we? I said Kessler will emerge as the best of the bunch and i stand by my statement
Lacy is hardly going to try and outbox him is he? Calzaghe did stop Sheika but he was hardly all at sea, it was more the accumulation of cuts and a fast combination and the ref stepped in. I was at Wembley for that fight and Sheika was never in serious trouble. Minus the injuries Sheika could easily have continued. So let's not use that as a measuring gauge. Lacy will give Calzaghe the hardest fight of his career, win or lose. Let's hope Calzaghe and Warren step up to the plate and make the fight happen.Max Molyneux wrote:Lacy's too slow to box with Joe and Beyer's lost to Green the first time and Lucas and both couldn't even stop Sheika!steve689 wrote:Light Heavyweight is a solid division, Briggs-Adamek was a war!!

How will Lacy give him a hard fight?
Sheika was stopped on cuts but was still stopped and easy to hit yet Lacy was troubled by him. Lacy's hype off guys Clazaghe beat in their primes.
If it happens Calzaghe by wide UD since Lacy seems to have a chin.
So yeah if people think Lacy will give Calzaghe a hard time even when he hasn't fought anyone special other than past their beat former Calzaghe opponents I'll use it as a measuring gauge.

perbertons punches looked as powerful as a flyweights. if Lacy lands a right on any super middle including calzaghe they are going down. He has matured and now confident. calzaghe will only fight lacy in the uk as he stated twice in his column in the local newspaper. Lacy seems to hit too hard and who can avoid his punches all nite long from now on?
Lacy must come to the uk to fight or it will never happen as calzaghe has stated that he is the senior champ so lacy must come to him.
I hope Lacy does come and he has a good chance of knocking joe out, it will be an amazing fight. one to remember always.

Who has Calzaghe fought in the last 3-4 years that makes you think he could beat any of the top 5 168 pounders. I wouldn't pick him ovger Lacy green Beyer Mundine or Kessler and that just comes down to inactivity.Max Molyneux wrote:Lacy's too slow to box with Joe and Beyer's lost to Green the first time and Lucas and both couldn't even stop Sheika!steve689 wrote:Light Heavyweight is a solid division, Briggs-Adamek was a war!!

All fighters fade with age and Calzaghe has been fighting patsies for years.Max Molyneux wrote:How will Lacy give him a hard fight?

He dosn't have the heart or intention of ever fighting a live opponent again. He is destend to retire underfeated having wasted his whole career.
This fight needs to happen. Supermiddle has always seemed a poor division, sandwiched as it is between two traditionally top-flight weights. When was the last decent contest at the weight? However, Lacy-Calzaghe is a top, top fight, if you ask me. I back Lacy, because he's on the way up, but I want to see the fight because it's a genuine contest, one that would interest pretty much anyone who watches boxing.

Of course but just because he's been fighting not so good opposition for a couple of yearsdoesn't mean he can't pull it off and he's only about 32 so he has some time left and still the speed to box Lacy. All fighters fade with age and Calzaghe has been fighting patsies for years.

Who has Lacy fought other than guys Calzaghe beat in their primes and other than 38 year old pemberton? Lacy needed the help of the ref to beat a past his prime Reid who Joe beat with a broken handwhen Reid was still good! Lacy got no warning or anything at all for hitting Pemberton in the back of the head and then the ref calling it off which was a BS stoppage! He's protect just as much.Who has Calzaghe fought in the last 3-4 years that makes you think he could beat any of the top 5 168 pounders. Kessler I rate less than Lacy some Aussies are calling him the best for beating one of their own which is what there doing with Adamek too. He's only Ud a guy who Ottke KO'ed and beat Siaca who was beaten by Mitchell who Joe Ko'ed in 2.
Calzaghe would knock glass jawed Mundine out and has only won a normal WBA title when Sven was the true WBA holder otherwise he ain't done much either. Only because he won one of those WBA pan pacific titles he got rated against guys who had over 10 losses!
Same with Green beating novices to earn a shot or guys with loads of losses but he had the IBF pan Pacific belt. Got jobbed against Beyer only to be easily beat in the rematch.
Like Lacy Beyer couldn't even stop a past it Sheika who Joe easily stopped. Has contiversial wins over Green and Lucas and just stays in Germany except when he had to fight Woodhall.
Inactivity? Fought 3 times in 2002, I understand what you mean for 2003 although he beat Mitchell who was good, twice in 2004 and twice this year. Thats average what these champs are doing these days.
Thats why I think he'd box him because of Lacy's strength but Lacy's hardly a mover so he wouldn't have the speed to outbox Joe.Think Lacy would be too strong for Joe, I think he will lose the in a war, Lacy's youth, and hunger would prevail.
I thought Glenn was a bit harsh on him last night, Lacy did nothing wrong and Pemberton WAS a top ten fighter - something which Piper was correct in mentioning.
Lacy knows Joe's the one to fight in the division because he a bigger namethan Kessler and Beyer and fighting Joe would earn him more money and respect from fans. Also Joe is more heard of then Kessler and Beyer to the casual fans.
Joe is no 1 still though due to experiance over the over champs.
Search, without saying why you disagree your comment is useless name calling and those people are not qualified to say an opinion.
Plus I'm in my own free mind to be a fan of anyone I want and sayingI'm biased is a conveiniet excuse. Could say the same about you if I don't like someone your afan of.
