Kelly vs Darchinyan.

Its old news that it is off in Austrailia, the promoter is short of cash. Wouldn't it be great though if Kelly could get some backing to get Darchinyan over here.

I want Kelly to have any advantage he can, and the jet lag will effect the strong champion.

I know of a PPV that is on the near future that is crying out for a decent undercard. Come on Fight Academy, try and get this on it.

Will FA work with Gilmour/Hearn on this - I doubt it but it would be nice to see.

I agree with you Stu. Kelly is really up against it on this one so any advantage he can get can only be a good thing.

It would be great if it came to the UK and Kelly pulled off a great upset.

Kelly is really up against it here, pity that fight fell apart. I don't think he would of done it though and its a pity he did not stay busy more often.

If it was to be brought to the UK, it would need to be on a decent bill as an undercard fight.

To be honest Kelly is not very well known even here in Belfast. If he had of created more of a following I'd love to see him as home fighter box for a proper World title in the Kings Hall or one of the citys new arena's.

None of the present lot of Belfast boxers are able to light the fan's of Boxing here at the moment. I have a feeling Kellys last win, could be his last of note.

Yes Stu, that would be a great card for it, surport world title fight and something more of the paying public at the arena and on PPV. I'd like to see more UK cards having more than one world title fight, even more so with it being on PPV.

Tough as old boots Irish kid with high work rate all action style, big heart, bags of stamina and a fair punch. However......he has skin like paper and if he cuts up then the fight won't last long.
He challenged Irene Pacheco, who Darchinyan beat well for the title, in Colombia a few years back and got beaten well in 6 hitting the deck 3 times in the process. That suggests he doesn't travel well.
Damean has also been very inactive throughout his career, possibly due to the situation with his cuts, and will probably be very rusty when it comes to fight night.
If and when it does happen I would predict the Aussie to win it well within 9 rounds. Though I wish a true gent like Kelly all the best with his challenge.

WayoftheCass sums it up pretty much spot on. If you're a Darchinyan fan, I wouldn't be too worried. I'm a big fan of Kelly, but he always seemed out of his depth here. The fight could make some big money back in Belfast, though, so maybe it should be rescheduled there. I hear that DRush promotions aren't the best, what's their story?

Don't know much about the promoters I'm afraid. There's more than a few shoddy ones here, same as everywhere else. Quite a few have trouble with international shows where big names / world titles are concerned

Darchynian - good banger but will lose to a topflight boxer as he thinks he's a mini Foreman or Liston

As for Darchinyan i saw him recently for the first time versus Mzukisi Sikali and i wasn't overly impressed, he has good fitness and it was his relentless punching that basically forced Sikali to walk to his corner and give up. Darchinyan threw a lot of shots early on and started to blow a bit before he got his second wind, his left hook to the body was impressive but the South African's corner were telling him to throw straight shots which was a good idea as Darchinyan's punches were wild and wide, then Sikali started having his successes.

I think Kelly has a chance, admittedly i have only seen Darchinyan once but i wouldn't have him down as invincible and couldn't see him beating the divisions No. 1 Ponsaklek Wonjongkam who is a class fighter and on a massive unbeaten streak. What is telling is the fact Darchinyan stopped Irene Pacheco in 11 rounds and we all saw how good Pacheco looked against...Damaen Kelly.

If Darchinyan wins he should surely be in line for a unification with Wonjongkam but after watching the Thai in with Daisuke Naito and Noiyuki Komatsu he seems to have something extra, he is sharp, compact and skilled. Doubt either Kelly or Darchinyan would beat him.

kelly is not doing to good at the moment and he knows it he will get beat and he will probaly move up to batam and challenge power for a crack at the british where he will be outclassed and he stop altogether

Darchinyan is impressive but i wouldn't fancy his chances against either Arce or Wonjongkam, i am not sure about Lorenzo Parra as i haven't seen him fight. Darchinyan's team are talking about him being recognised as one of the best lower weight fighters ever already, why do they do this? A bit like Robbie Peden before the Barrera fight saying he aims to become the best Aussie fighter ever it just makes them look daft. Let's wait until Darchinyan has unified at least one title first before we can start believing such outlandish claims.

The Aussie fighters have always dissapointed me. Nedal Hussein I saw live against the average Brian Carr in Glasgow's Kelvin Hall several years ago and he wasn't any great shakes. Then last time out against Harrison he lacked a champ's heart.
Hussein Hussein looked like a tough S.O.B in the first Arce fight but got swept away rather easily in the rematch.
A few years back the then only once beaten Shannon Taylor got hammered in the U.K. on TV by Richard 'The Secret' Williams in 4 one sided rounds.
Kevin Kelley also got his clock cleaned on British soil, in 4 aswell, about 4 or 5 years ago by then up and coming Gary 'The Rocket' Locket from Wales.
Earlier this year David Haye pretty spectacularly destroyed Glenn Kelly in 2 rounds with a vicious knockout.
I also remember Tony Wehbee challenging Scott Harrison many years ago for the Commonwealth Featherweight belt and trying to overpower Scott and showed him little respect. Scott beat seven shades of shit out of him in 3 in a bloddy and brutal stoppage.
Justin Rowsell always got easily dispatched in 2 rounds by Ricky Hatton in 2001 and up at Cruiser again Johnny Nelson scored a beautiful 1 punch knockout in the 4th against Adam Watt.
They are rather like the South Africans in that they always seem to come up short in the really big fights. I think they need maybe one guy to make the breakthrough and give the rest confidence. Darchinyan may be that man. I also like the look of Danny Green. I'm a big fan of his all action, power punching style. He is in a very tough division though.

Thats a bit harsh, I don't know who is talking up Darchinian, i see him as a great slugger but he could be made to look silly against a great boxer unless he lands some bombs. All the fighters mentioned above are decent but none of them are world beaters. Maybe Green can step up but he only has a few years left in him.

Probably because they are scared of the 'killer bee' from America getting in. It's the Australian Bee which produces most of the world's honey and is used in hives.

I liked the question on the American visa about 'Moral Turpitude' wasn't sure what to answer to that.
