John 'Buster' Keeton fought for the Dutch national title

I was just scanning through his record randomly and saw that he fought for the dutch title in 2005, how did he qualify to fight for that? i dont remember if anything was said around the fight about it or if its just one of those strange quirks like andrew golota boxing for the WBC latin title. if someone could enlighten me it would be much appreciated.

did he have a dutch license , or perhaps the title was there only for opponent to win if he beat keeton?

I think that some countries allow a boxer from outside box for the title, but not actually win it if they win the fight.
Holland hasn't got many boxers, so to keep a title alive they allow this.
If the home fighter wins, he's champion. If he loses the title stays vacant

just seemed strange to me when i read it and wasnt aware boxers could fight for a title like that, thought it would be strange is an english guy was dutch champion.

he's lived here long enought to be classed as an english citizen. he didnt come over for 1 day and become english champion

i always assumed he was english champ as he was a British citizen living in england that he was allowed to fight for it. but i see your and slaps point now
