I only mentioned it because that's the only fight with a higher purse bid and on the night it was a mismatch.

A motivated Povetkin has good foot work, combinations, chin, ring savvy and accuracy. He is also very strong in the clinches.

had a £10 treble of fury, povetkin and Bradley. not sur how the fury bet works now whether I just get the double or if the other two come up I have to wait until feb. all 3 were underdogs though. fancy povetkin based on thr fact that his team must really fancy him to put all that money up to get the fight, thought if they can gamble 17 mill on there man I can stump up a tenner, fancied fury all day to beat haye and after recent events think I was right, don't think haye fancied it at all, hence the fact that he was still sparring so close to the fight, he never looked confident in any presser I saw, and think Bradley got a very good chance, think it's a 50/50 fight.

Personally I've always suspected that Keith's apparent analytical eureka moment around this fight actually has more to do with his desire to see Tyson Fury rise to the top of the heavyweight division. With Vlad removed, the chances of this happening are somewhat improved...

I think there's more chance of Povetkin pulling out before the fight in his latest ritual of ducking Wlad than Aleksandr actually beating him.

I would love for it to happen, but it just won't.

If it somehow did though, surely it would put an end to all these claims Wlad was an all-time great.

Sasha has regressed imo since he lost to Chambers. He's a short-arsed, short-armed volume puncher. He couldn't budge Huck, FFS.

All the guys who've troubled Wlad have had one thing in common: one-punch firepower. He has never ever shown vulnerabilities to a volume puncher.

Without this equaliser--& lacking height & reach, he will be up against it to get inside anyway--Povetkin is doomed to a dreary, one-sided clutchathon of a beating, Chagaev-stylee.

I know it sounds crazy mate, but Povetkin is the most underrated boxer on the planet.

I agree he's underrated.

He's very talented, most people don't know Povetkin had arguably the best amateur record of all time at super-heavyweight, winning about 12 gold medals in international tournaments.

I don't think he'll beat Wlad, but he'll give him his toughest fight in many years.

Wonder if Povetkin has already lost this fight given he's been poo scared of Wlad in the past by ducking him on a number of occasions.

This is the reason why a guy like Wilder is fighting stiffs. If you string together two or three semi-decent wins these days you're in title contention in this HW division, fighters like Povetkin need time to develop and gain experience, he would have had no chance beating Wlad a couple of years ago, I don't think he'll win now but the fights between then and now are invaluable experience going into a fight like this.

Good point about Wilder. I think there is another reason why Wilder is fighting stiffs - I don't think he can take any sort of punch. Credit to him for finally stepping up the level of opposition this year. I think from a management strategy point of view it makes perfect sense to time his rise to the top of the rankings as and when the Klitschko's retire. I am absolutely convinced that his punch resistance will be no better than Seth Mitchell's.

I disagree about Povetkin, I think his best chance has come and gone. I don't see how the fights he's had in the last two years will give him the slightest benefit in terms of experience. Fighters come up against the Klitschko's and generally can't do a thing with them, stylewise - so they amble after them, and get beaten up, discouraged, and stopped or thrashed on points. Nothing they've encountered along the way helps them deal with the style of Wlad or Vitali. I can't see how Povetkin's fights with Rahman, Huck and two total, complete no-hopers in Boswell and Wawrzsyk can help him for what is required against Wlad. He is going to have to avoid taking too much punishment, get around the jab, and land his own punches on Wlad. Otherwise he is going to take a right fxxking hiding for as long as the fight lasts.
