The best Roberto Duran was at Lightweight {1974 thru early-1978}

At 154 lbs. the style of Terry Norris {Prime} may have been a little too quick for Roberto.

I agree, Terrible Terry would be too quick for the great Roberto Duran at this weight at Duran's point of his career.

It's a weird scenario, because they weren't at their best at the same weight at all really.

two of my favourite fighters and it saddens me to say i pick terry norris in this match up , other than davey moorer duran didn't do great @light middle and norris was a fast ,hard punching slick boxer completely wrong for duran .

That if Terrible Terry decides to slug it out with the Hands of Stone. If he does that, then, he would be stopped just like Simon Brown KTFO of him. In the rematch, Terry used his boxing skills and did not risk it into a slugging match and won.

Norris is the most overrated fighter ever, but if he keeps his head on his shoulders the way he did in the Brown rematch I'd take him to decision Duran. Otherwise he could get dragged into Duran's game and battered.

He made his name in fighting and beating washed up legends like Sugar Ray Leonard and good fighters like Meldrick Taylor that were way smaller than he. When he got KTFO by Julian Jackson, he did not ask for a rematch, neither he wanted no part of Gerald McClellan, Roy Jones, Jr or James Toney.

But when the announcers asked him about a fight with the great Julio Cesar Chavez or Pernell Whitaker, he was eager and willing to take the fight. Such a "great champion" he was.

He was a small Jr Middleweight to begin with.

I never considered him a small Jr. Middle apart from his reach. Compared with the monstrous Jackson, maybe, but otherwise he never seemed notably outsized in there. Regardless, the fact that he was so willing to take on clearly smaller/washed up fighters and not prove himself against the bigger guys or the best in his weight class (other than when Jackson caved his face in) is indicative of the kind of fighter he was. He was scared to get the glass shattered, so he resorted to fighting old, former Welters like Brown. Oh wait....

Sure, you can avoid bitching at him, but if he'd really wanted to prove himself and believed he could do it, he would have stepped up. It's not like he dropped down to win another title at Welter. I think for sure he outboxes the Duran that lost to Laing, but I can see him wanting to prove his manhood by going toe to toe, and then Duran knocks him out. I also think the best Duran of Light middle or middle hunts him down no matter what he does. If Duran performs like he did against Hagler, he's winning no matter which Norris turns up.
