No moaning about german board sanctionin a show in london?
After all the moaning with del boy vs haye just wondered why no-one moans about small shows being commisioned in the UK by the german board.
I couldnt give a hoot but it was a big issue not long ago. And im not too sure how often they have been run.
The WBU title is also back on the UK shows on this show

It's a weird, weird show, featuring a whole host of fighters, a few of whom are decent (Heffron/Weaver), but more are obscure or well past it.
I think Earl is due to make a comeback on one of these shows, which speaks volumes.
Their press releases are brilliantly over-the-top too.

Just looked at the Boxrec schedule & noticed that Matt Scriven & Robin Deakin are on the bill arent these another 2 blokes that have had their license revoked by the BBBC?

How many times has a card featuring Retzke and Angel Mk been rescheduled? 6? 7?
Re: No moaning about german board sanctionin a show in london?
The GBA aren't affiliated with the EBU like Luxembourg were for the Haye-Chisora fight. As far as I'm concerned, it's an unlicensed card and shouldn't be on the schedules.
Just read about Iain Weaver's situation in Boxing Monthly. Clearly, it's very tough for him, but I'm not sure going on cards like this is the best way forward. He'd be better off moving abroad (he got a license in California) and chasing his dreams there, whilst legally challenging the Board's decision. Or going back into the GB set up and giving Rio a go (I think switching back would be allowed by the authorities).
Can't see the road he's going down at the moment being great for career advancement.

I thought the Board called everyone involved in the first GBA show but it doesn't look like they were able to do much. I suppose they are apprehensive about doing anything with their court case with Bruce Baker/luxemburg still on going.

It's all boxing to me, I don't care who sanctions what. All that matters to me is being entertained.

So you think only fights sanctioned by EBU affiliated organisations should be listed on BoxRec?Jack B wrote:The GBA aren't affiliated with the EBU like Luxembourg were for the Haye-Chisora fight. As far as I'm concerned, it's an unlicensed fight and shouldn't be on the schedules.

Re: No moaning about german board sanctionin a show in london?
For fights in Europe, yes. The EBU is the legitimate governing body for professional boxing in Europe. If you have GBA sanctioned fights on the system, where do you draw the line? The EBF is an organisation that schedules boxing, isn't it? Why are their fights not on BoxRec? It's all ridiculous - the lack of structure really damages the sport in my view. Promoting and legitimising Mickey Mouse organisations is not good.slapbangwhallop wrote:So you think only fights sanctioned by EBU affiliated organisations should be listed on BoxRec?Jack B wrote:The GBA aren't affiliated with the EBU like Luxembourg were for the Haye-Chisora fight. Irrelevant of all that, going back to the case of Weaver - fighting on back door cards will do him no favours. If he can't get a licence with the BBBofC, he should fight it in the right manner (which I think he's doing), and/or move somewhere else. I'm sure with his pedigree there would be an American promoter willing to take a punt on him. Not ideal, but the best option for him at this stage.

But if the BBofC do nothing, then how does this affect their case ?The Insider wrote: I suppose they are apprehensive about doing anything with their court case with Bruce Baker/luxemburg still on going.
Who are they to pick and choose which sanctioning bodies should be allowed and which should not ?
If the situation is wrong, then it is wrong - surely it can't be wrong for one and ok for another ?

Re: No moaning about german board sanctionin a show in london?
Not sure I understand but the point I was trying to make was that the Board might not want to take action against it's members who are involved in the GBA shows until the court case with LuxBox has finished. If the Board get turned over by Luxembourg the sanctions imposed on GBA affiliates would be futile and meaningless.bripez wrote:But if the BBofC do nothing, then how does this affect their case ?The Insider wrote: I suppose they are apprehensive about doing anything with their court case with Bruce Baker/luxemburg still on going.

There could be big changes for the sport in the UK in next few months.

Freeing it up and modernizing; orThe Insider wrote:There could be big changes for the sport in the UK in next few months.
More red-tape and regulation?
Re: No moaning about german board sanctionin a show in london?
If a boxer has had his license removed/suspended by the BBBofC for his own safety but he is still fighting on a show in the UK sanctioned by a different body then it is extremely worrying to me.Aden wrote:It's all boxing to me, I don't care who sanctions what. Re: No moaning about german board sanctionin a show in london?
Which is exactly the point in question. The board takes licenses off boxers for their own safetly. It seems the GBA (& the promoters) couldnt care less who is on the bill & whether their health is at risk.

Equally worrying is the unanswerable monopoly the BBBoC have on pro boxing in the UK.The Law wrote:If a boxer has had his license removed/suspended by the BBBofC for his own safety but he is still fighting on a show in the UK sanctioned by a different body then it is extremely worrying to me.Aden wrote:It's all boxing to me, I don't care who sanctions what. no agenda just concerned when boxers who have not been granted licences or had them withdrawn for whatever reason end up fighting again
Re: No moaning about german board sanctionin a show in london?
I agree with the above Leonard. Why should we have a board that stops people boxing to protect them from themselves? Well its pretty obvious in my opinion.
Why dont we just get it on with semi blind boxers I am sure the GBA would be all for sanctioning that.

x2 they would sanction anybody and anything as long as the money is right pretty much like the masters titles where the only criteria appears to be have you got the sanctioning fee I know the board collect money off licence holders etc but they dont collect money if the boxers health and safety is at risk hence refused and withdrawn licences etc so i agree the board are far from perfect but they wont sell peoples health for money

to say "they would sanction anybody and anything as long as the money is right" is without foundation.
Just because the board bottled it with Weavers and Counihan's licences doesnt make them right.
Re: No moaning about german board sanctionin a show in london?
Mate it is one thing your licence being revoked on medical grounds and another because you have had a brush with the law. I don´t care about the latter. Guys that have not been granted a licence with one of the best if not the best in the world on medical grounds should not be in a ring. I do not want to see that. Not saying that this is the case but your attitude in those vauge two sentences without further explaination, (not that it is mandatory here to do so) with no due respect, stinks like shit.Aden wrote:Why (I'm not being facetious)? The Law wrote:If a boxer has had his license removed/suspended by the BBBofC for his own safety but he is still fighting on a show in the UK sanctioned by a different body then it is extremely worrying to me.Aden wrote:It's all boxing to me, I don't care who sanctions what.
