Shavers has stopped far more proven fighters than Wlad has ever fought. They're both huge punchers, no question about it.

He dropped Larry Holmes with one punch and had Ali out on his feet with another. It doesn't get more proven than that. Roy Williams was another guy he starched that was quite sturdy.

Silly accusation, I've never cheered for a fighter because they were american or against one because he wasn't.

You're the only one that brought up sucking.

Earnie Shavers punch power being labelled "overrated" is one of the worst things I have ever read on Boxrec.

Larry Holmes, Muhammad Ali, Tex Cobb, Joe Bugner, Jimmy Young, simply some of the hardest chins that ever existed, they all cite Earnie Shavers as the biggest puncher they ever fought.

Quick Tillis regarded Shavers as the much better puncher than Tyson. An ancient Shavers wobbled Tillis several times and even dropped him on his face. Mike Tyson never seemed to even hurt Tillis.

Shavers had Larry Holmes down. Ron Lyle down. Joe Bugner down. Had Muhammad Ali staggering all over the ring. Roy Williams on the floor. Jimmy Young down in both their fights. Walked right through Ken Norton, Jimmy Ellis, and Henry Clark.

You can see Earnie's power in the extant footage. It is not a myth, it is frightening to behold.

You guys are ridiculous. The post 2007 Wlad is one of the greatest head to head heavyweights of all time. He has great boxing skills and ring IQ. He also has frightening power in both fists, fast hands, an ATG left jab, and is 6'6 250lb with incredible strength.

Wlad KO 5 Shavers
Wlad W 12 Witherspoon
Wlad TKO 10 Norton
Wlad KO 4 Lubbers

Wlad KO 4 Lubbers
And this is based on his victories over . . .?

His best scalps post 2007 are Ibragimov and Haye, who both would've also lost to Shavers, Witherspoon and Norton. For starters, the 3 aformentioned were natural HWs who showed the ability to come forward and give and take punishment. Haye and Sultan were two natural sub-200 lbers who were finesse fighters who fight very cautiously vs larger men who can punch . . a great style matchup for Klitschko, and Wlad still managed to barely win excruciatingly boring rounds vs them because he was wary of their speed and punch. Vs a big athletic Heavyweight in excellent condition who could jab like a Norton or Witherspoon (well let's say the Tim who fought Holmes and Smith), Wlad would be in completely foreign waters. In the land of the blind, the one eyed man is king.

And I simply don't see why Lubbers is even mentioned with this group. He wasn't even one of the three best of a weak Euro HW division . . clearly no-one would pick him over Klitschko.

Great post by Dempsey. Wlad really didn't like the pace of a fat, half-gassed Sam Peter, and totally imploded against the moderate aggression of Puritty.

Haye and Ibragimov showed a little fitness and movement and he was unable to hurt them or do much at all.

The pace these men could fight at (over 15 rds) and the bombs they threw are a world away from the Tony Thompson and Marisu Wach types Wlad has been feeding on for years.

I think Witherspoon and Norton are 50-50 fights.

Tim has the most talent but he was also the least disciplined. His ability to catch a jab and counter will be difficult to do. Which is the same for Norton. I also think that's a 50-50 fight. Norton not quite as skilled as Tim but he has that incredible engine. But he's more open to Wlad's big shots.

Shavers again, not as good as Ken or Tim but he had the punch and the delivery system. I lean towards Wlad... Wlad has a great punch himself and more skill. But he's not as resilient...

The first three knock out Wlad with relative ease. They are beasts and Wlad has seen absolutely nothing like them.

I think Shavers knocks out Wlad.

I think Ken Norton wins a decision.

I think Wlad beats Witherspoon on points.

I don't know the other guy.
