Charles is elliglbe for an immediate rematch due to the relaxed title eligiblity rules.
I know he is now but if the MDT wasn't going on he wouldn't be.

Correct. And you have made a valid point in the issue that you have highlighted - we'll look at it at the end of this season. I always try to refrain from "changing the rules" during the course of the season.

Challenges still outstanding:
BoxBuzz wrote:If the "champion" can not answer the call of destiny because he is skeered.....Then we of course it's Spinks.

It's been a pretty confusing week so let's break it down:

Tommy Gibbons has called out Michael Spinks and then later Ezzard Charles.

Michael Spinks has called out Tommy Gibbons and Jimmy Bivins.

Jimmy Bivins has offered Ezzard Charles a rematch.

It looks to me like HomicideHenry has to finally make a decision here - whichever champ that he picks, Spinks will fight the other. - That sounds fair and reasonable to me.

If Charles does not respond within 24 hours, he will fight Jimmy Bivins in the rematch... Seeing as Charles called Spinks out first.

If there's been no response, Frakham and Michalczewski will face Big George.

Uh? I think the Lonsdale championship should be fought for, with or without those other belts if need be.....Why is Charles ducking Gibbons?

and if Charles called Spinks out first.......then let that fight happen.

Only Mr Homicide can asnwer that.

Charles has NEVER called out Spinks, nor did he call out Gibbons, and that is exactly the problem.

Buzz, if you don't want to fight Michael Spinks and a fight with Charles cannot be agreed upon (due mainly to Homicide's inactivity) then I suggest that you select one of the other 2 Unmatched fighters - Michalczewski or Frankham to defend your titles against.

Well yes, it may have to happen. However, the RIGHT fight is the Gibbons Charles affair. Even I can see that.

Allowing Spinks and Bivins to fuss over the scraps is a good thing. But the main event that is due...is resolution of the top spot which has been going back and forth between these two fighters all season. This week Gibbons is on top. Last week it was Charles.....it's a good opportunity to move this forward.

That's all I'm sayin. However your quote seemed to indicate that a possible fight between Spinks and Charles could take place. If that happens we will guarantee the winner a shot at Gibbons if he was lucky enough to hold on to what he has.

I'm just not in the mood to run this week. So we'll take the best fight we can get. We prefer Charles.

Buzz, you do make a compleeing argument but please take a moment to examine the issue in this. Very quickly, let's have a look at the four propsective matchups:

1. Gibbons vs Spinks
BOTH of their Managers called either fighter out, at different times...
You stated that you would view Spinks as the second most desirable fight - but a unification against Bivins was your first preference.
Mr Kevo has called your fighter out by name.

2. Gibbons vs Charles
While you want this fight Buzz, Mr Homicide has never expressly agreed to this fight happening for this week. So this deal is dead in the water.

3. Bivins vs Spinks
Mr Kevo has called Bivins out. But Mr Fist Of Legend has never shown an interest in fighting Spinks. So this deal is dead in the water.

4. Bivins vs Charles
Mr Fist Of Legend has only called Charles out for this week.

I'll take on Mr. Gibbons just to shut his yap. Next week though I want Bivins.

Frankham calls out Spinks.

getting started......

Just a note: IBO rating rules will be suspended for the duration of the MDT......and for 1 fight in the wake....

After that...it goes back to the old rules. No need for the IBO title to be overly enhanced by the awesome spectacle of the MDT....an MDT winner transcends the IBO title. Unless he chooses to fight under 15 fighters for the rest of his career. I believe it is the hope of this joint commish that perhaps ALL titles would be unified for perhaps 1 event if the opportunity presents itself.
