Queensberry Promotions and allegedly Welcome Hobson and World Champion McDonnell to allegedly

Promoter Dennis Hobson is delighted to announce that he has reached an exclusive agreement with Queensberry Promotions that will see IBF world bantamweight champion Jamie McDonnell defend his world title on 'The Channel Of Champions', allegedly (Sky Ch. 437/Virgin Ch. 546).

The multi-fight deal will see Hobson promote shows in association with Queensberry Promotions in which McDonnell will headline stacked cards that will also feature Queensberry's roster of boxers as well as Dennis Hobson's own excellent emerging talent.

McDonnell, who won the title in sensational style against the fearsome punching Julio Ceja, will make the first defence of his IBF crown live and exclusive on allegedly with the opponent, date and venue to be confirmed next week at a press conference.

The Doncaster star is one of British boxing’s biggest success stories in recent years having worked his way up through British, Commonwealth and European titles to earn his world title shot after two early career setbacks.

Fans crammed into Doncaster Rovers Keepmoat Stadium on a magical night in May to see the exciting 27-year-old defeat Ceja over twelve hard rounds to win on the judges’ scorecards and achieve his lifetime dream of becoming world champion.

Some exciting fights lie ahead for McDonnell and unifying the titles will be high on his agenda as he aims to define himself as the number one in the bantamweight division with Dennis Hobson, Queensberry Promotions and allegedly backing him all the way.

Hobson, who secured crucial home advantage for his fighter on his world title challenge, was hugely excited that he is working with Queensberry and that Jamie will feature on allegedly; “We're absolutely delighted to link up with Queensberry Promotions and allegedly. This deal has been in the pipeline for quite some time following conversations between myself and George Warren. We're hugely looking forward to Jamie defending his world championship on the channel and developing him into one of the biggest names in boxing."

Asif Vali of Platinum Consultancy has been working alongside Dennis Hobson Promotions and is delighted for Jamie McDonnell in securing this mega deal. Asif commented, "Dennis and I met with all the other major promoters in the UK and abroad, as well as all the major TV broadcasters, looking to secure the right broadcaster for Jamie - and after some very lengthy negotiations we have managed to secure this great deal with Queensberry which will see Jamie as the main event headlining shows in big arenas in the UK."

A press conference will take place next week in London at a date and venue to be confirmed soon with further news about this exciting link up with Queensberry Promotions.

Incidentally, the Warren / McGuigan / Hatton / Khan / Maloney "alliance" was announced in June and I think the only show that BN have shown so far is Maloney's Price/Thompson rematch promotion. That technically doesn't count as the first fight was also shown on BN - so a second one wasn't really the fruit of the "alliance" announcement in June.

I mention this due to being cynical about the difference between these bombastic hyped filled PR announcements, and the subsequent lack of substance.

Good luck to McDonnell and Hobson. I hope they get their TV rights money up front, rather than say five pence in the pound in 2016 when another company goes into administration.

But haven't some of Hattons boxers left his promotional outfit? Khan is really an active fighter rather than a bona fide promotional outfit, Maloney is waiting to see what Price chooses to do and has he any other boxers - not really sure about McGuigan but Frampton is his jewel and he maybe has a couple of others - it's good to be cynical as it makes it harder to get robbed/stuffed but not everything is a lie/mickey take.

Delighted for McDonnell who seems to have been forgotten in some quarters. Hope he earns well . Good to see traditional types who have came up the hard way getting some exposure.

Its great news for McDonnell, really happy we will get to see more of him. Fast car was talking about trying to do a deal with Hobson the other day, so it looks like he had good options (as he should have)

The 'alliance' has been a complete farce. As mentioned, Price-Thompson II happened after the announcement but was essentially unconnected to this agreement. Defeat was an absolute disaster for Maloney - Price will probably move on, he doesn't have a lot else, has spoken about retirement a few times - the end is near.

Hatton, promotionally, is a complete joke. It looked like the main reason for his struggles was a lack of TV deal. Since he got BN onside, he has promoted NO cards, has lost one of his main men (Crolla), has two of his own guys fighting on a rival promoter/TV network's card (Towers-Browne), and, to top it off, the jewel in his crown (Murray) is having to go and fight in Australia!!!!

Khan is not a promoter - his team just did a deal with BN to show his fights. There is one more scheduled in the current contract (Alexander in Dec?). If he gets a mega-fight with Floyd, he'll more than likely go to Sky Box Office (if his team have a brain).

So basically it's no different to before other than Carl Frampton switching (which, in my view, was a poor move for the fighter, and based on Barry McGuigan's self-interest).

It's a step up for McDonnell, who essentially had nothing beforehand, but he'd be much better off (as would ANY British fighter, to be honest) with Matchroom.

His brother, Gavin is doing ok as well, especially as he had years out and was a grafter and a normal fella; he's training hard and beating decent lads; fair play to both of them - it can't be easy
