Below is a statement from British Super Featherweight champion Stephen Smith announcing the termination of his promotional agreement with W Promotions Ltd.

“I’ve been with W Promotions since I turned pro and during that time have held the British Featherweight and Super-Featherweight titles. Now though the time has come to pursue my career away from W Promotions. As such I’m today announcing the termination of my contract with W Promotions. I would like to thank everyone at W Promotions for the support and guidance they’ve given me. A special thank you to Dean Powell - like so many other boxers out there I appreciate everything he did for my career.”

Is this a Bomber style termination or he's just not re-signing with them?

Is this with immediate effect? What about 'The History Boys' card, still going ahead as planned?

Does he still face Sykes??

Suppose seeing Callum have more fights in 10 months then he's had in 3-4 years & had he lost to buckland he would of prob be left to rot.

Shame really. Be nice to see them all stage a show in which would be a complete novelty for the fans & public too see.cant see that now

Eddie was waxing lyrical about him the other day actually. Had him in his top 3 domestic boxers not currently at matchroom so I would expect he goes there.

Interesting - the Sykes fight is a mandatory and 'both parties' have agreed to FW promoting it..... watch this space I guess....

Anyway, I thought W Promotions no longer existed, so surely any contract with them is worthless anyway!

Poor old Frankie boy is going to be paying a lot in solicitors' fees this year......

In fact... I was posting my comment BEFORE you posted your comment and you pressed "submit" before I did. :TU: Peter Falk would have known that.

And then it wont be long before you see unhappy fighters whose ambitions cant be fulfilled as there wont be enough tv dates to satisfy them all.

If warren wound up a company to knock calzaghe he deserves to lose all contracts IMO. He talked about on I film hearns being unsafe & half responsible for tragedies & health for his fighters bla, bla, bla
& then knocks a man risking his life & securing his family's future

Matchroom have just signed another 20 show per year deal with SKY running through until 2016. Thankfully since the return of the boxing season we've seen no sign of Prizefighter. Hopefully Matchroom will use more of their dates for arena events ahead of the tired Prizefighter format. With Matchroom putting on PPV events, and SKY Sports dedicating 2 hours to their red button prior to their live shows, there will be plenty of time for everyone in the Matchroom roster to get out at least 3 times per year.

Also, as we've seen, Eddie and his fighters are prepared to travel for fights too. I'm fairly confident everyone in the Matchroom stable will get the time, attention, opportunities, exposure and pay that they are looking for.

I thought this. Could he just be signing for Queensbury?
