Pretty much. It's a shame, but that's the risk you take when you buy tickets to boxing matches.

The only ever fight I got tickets to was a Joe Calzaghe fight. (Who himself had a bad reputation for getting injured before fights.) It ended up being cancelled. Luckily the card went ahead, though I travelled to Cardiff to watch Danny Williams vs Matt Skelton 2, with Amir Khan and Enzo Mac both fighting on the undercard. Feck knows why I purchased tickets for that particular event, as I live commutable to London.

I guess the rule is, only buy tickets to fights that you can commute to. And if you absolutely have to travel to the fight, book a hotel that has a free cancellation policy.

Yeah, most of my money goes on trips to see snooker. (I post on snooker boards as well, by the way.)

I just needed it confirming as I found it a bit odd. Our amateur club show has been brought forward a week because of snooker. The WMC where we have it are putting six tables in for the pro's to practise on during the UK championships. It is a two minute walk from the venue. I could get free tickets if I wanted. I wont, though....

I would if I could. I used to go to Telford to watch the UK Championships. York is a bit far/expensive for me. I've got the week off to watch it on television though.
