One would ask why the 'young' Champion would show that kind of disrespect to a 'Two-Time'
former Heavyweight Champion, who has exhibited Good Sportsmanship in all his bouts.
The 'lippy' Clay said that as Heavyweight Champion, he is the 'King of the Words' as well,
and he can label anyone as he wishes. Patterson is 'Uncle Tom', and that will be
his new name.
Though Floyd Patterson is no longer the dynamic fighter that he once was, the 30+ year-old
former 'Two-Time' Champion is still a quality Heavyweight.
Asked for a response, Floyd Patterson could only shrug his shoulders and shake his head.
A: Part of the deal was willing participation on both sides to build up the gate and the closed-circuit viewing audience. Floyd related shortly after the fight that the famous confrontation at Patterson's training camp at which Ali showed up with a bag of carrots and called Patterson "The Rabbit" was indeed a publicity stunt, something that Ali felt he had to do. About the name thing: Patterson told W.C. Heinz that it was difficult for him to pronounce the word Muhammad, and that's why he continued to call Ali “Cassius.” Maybe that's true. Remember, Floyd had difficulty as a child learning to speak. Perhaps some words did cause him problems. Maybe it was because it was a "Muslim" word. Shortly after the fight, Patterson asked Ali if it was all right if he called him Cassius. Ali smiled and said, "Anytime, Floyd." Seven years later, when they fought for the second time, Ali said something to the effect that, yes, Patterson still called him Cassius and Floyd was the only person he allowed to do so.
Il Duce wrote:I don't understand the statement........'allowed to'.
What does that mean exactly.......
You mean that you needed permission to call him 'Cassius Clay'.
Come on. If other people called him Cassius, he would pull them up on it, and tell them to call him Muhammad. If Floyd called him Cassius, he just let it pass. Is that complicated to understand?
Mainly because Cassius was walking around Las Vegas, at the 'Stardust Hotel'
in November 1965 handing out photo's of Floyd Patterson dressed up as 'Uncle Tom'.
Cassius had his Training Camp set up at the 'Stardust Hotel', and he really seemed to enjoy
ridiculing Floyd, well after the Convention Center tickets were already 'sold-out'.
I would love to learn more about this incident. Can you please direct me to where I can find more information on this.

It's well known that Ali talked a lot of smack about all of his opponents before their bouts to build up public interest in the fights. The fact that he allowed Patterson to call him Cassius when he wouldn't allow anyone else to do it says all I need to know about whether or not he had respect for Patterson. He obviously did.

Me too.
It sounds like it was made up by a lunatic.
Floyd in a photo dressed as 'Uncle Tom'?
How does that work? Did Floyd pose for this supposed photo? Did the 'Clay industry' kidnap him and force him to dress up as 'Uncle Tom'. Maybe they photoshopped it on Bundini's laptop...

Actually what does 'Uncle Tom' usually wear?
I believe the photos exist...in the abscesses of Il Liberace's mind!
I can hear you now with all your caterwauling..........
Wearing your T-Shirt with a picture of Floyd Patterson eating a 'Pork Chop'.
Cassius Clay and his Band of Clowns, with by 'Cap'n Sam Saxon drove over to the
Thunderbird Hotel and Casino {where Floyd Patterson has set up his Training Camp}
and hung out in the Parking Lot with 'Pork Chop's tied around their necks.
The Assistant Manager of the Thunderibrd Hotel - Lee Alderson came out to the
Parking Lot and politely asked Cassius Clay and his Crew of Juveniles to either
behave like gentleman or leave.
Cassius immediately threw out a slew of outrageous remarks, calling the Thunderbird
Hotel 'a place for ignorant animals who don't like us N*****S'.
Cassius added, 'you only like Floyd Patterson because he's an Uncle Tom, otherwise
he'd being stay down the block.'
Lee Alderson told the Champion, 'that those remarks were un-called for, and that
the Thunderbird Hotel welcomes everyone.'
Cassius and his Group then dumped a box of 'Pork Chop's at the front entrance
of the Thunderbird Hotel with the name 'Deliver to Floyd Patterson' {a.k.a Uncle Tom}.
Cassisus Clay {23 years old and 10 months} going on..............'Age Seven'.
True Story.....
I believe it happened...in the abscesses of your mind while you were besodden by poppers to loosen you up for your next date.
I heard a story once that he also took candy from a baby, pushed an old lady down a flight of stairs, and bought a child a toy just to smash it in front of him and then laugh.
I can't verify this of course, but it's a True Story.

After 'Cassius the Clown' pulled that 'cheap stunt' on Floyd Patterson and his Wife,
the loudmouth thought that he was Don Rickles {white Comedian}.
He was chirping about how he was so 'witty-and-clever', and he acted like he was a real
tough guy, when he was around his 'Band of Jokers'.
Well, one of Floyd's sparring partners {'King' Jimmy Fletcher} got so pissed off of what
happened to Floyd, that he went over to the Stardust Hotel later than night, and waited
while he 'stalked' Cassius.
'King Jimmy' made his move, when Cassius went to the elevator by himself.
As Cassius got in, and the door started to close, 'King Jimmy' put his hand across the
door-bar and stopped it from closing.
He got in the Elevator, and said, "OK you little Mother****er, you're ass is mine now."
'King Jimmy' grabbed Cassius by his neck and lifted him up the in the air with his feet
dangling, as Cassius started 'caterwauling'.
Took 4 Security Guards to pry 'King Jimmy's hands from around Cassius' neck.

Awesome story, bro.
Any of it true?
Of course not. It's Il Duce and it's about Ali. He makes up BS about him every day. That's his life.

I was wondering how the 4 security guards magically appeared in the lift.

The 'hardest hitting' sparring partner in Las Vegas and Los Angeles at the time.
Style similar to Ron Lyle.
Nearly squeezed Cassius's head off his neck..........
Were you fully erect while making that nonsense up?
