I have been going through this thread very fast, but something is wrong here.

The first Johansson v Patterson fight in Yankee Stadium was in 1959 not 1960, but never mind the missprint.

NO WAY! Unless you know 3 million swedes who went out of Europe to watch the fight somewhere.
The fight was NOT televised in Sweden - It was NOT on the radio in Sweden because of a total radio and TV ban on pro boxing in Sweden at that time.

Something is wrong here.

It was an outdoor show on the Stadio Communale with a huge crowd.

Johansson says 35.000 attendance. Cavicchi was a hero in Italy at that time.

25 year-old - Ingemar Johansson - 14-0-0 {7 KO's} takes on #10 World-Ranked
and European Heavyweight Champion - 'The Emilian Bull', Italian Franco Cavicchi.

The 28 year-old Italian has a record of 43-3-2 {34 KO's}, and who is being mentioned
as a Challenger for the World Heavyweight Championship.

Rough going for Ingemar {200 lbs.} early in the bout, as the Cavicchi {205 lbs.} is
too smart and too quick for the 'Big Swede', and builds up a solid points lead thru 5-Rounds.

Ingemar is left swinging at air, as Cavicchi is skillful in jabbing and counter-punching during
the Middle-Rounds, picking up Points.

After Round 10, Ingemar is hopelessly behind, and forgets about trying to jab his way in,
and starts swinging with heavy right-hands.

Well behind on points, INGO finally breaks through in Round 13, and topples the difficult
Italian and stops him by a TKO 13.

With the win and European Heavyweight Championship - Ingemar Johansson at 15-0-0 {8 KO's}
is now positioned as the #10 Heavyweight.
